28/1/2013 16:36 | Well done hjs ... £300 from a gold short today and that was about it for me. Apart from BG. my portfolio hardly moved. Ah... "Queensland storm closes rail and ports" Coalminers are looking for alternative ways to export coal from the southern part of Queensland's Bowen Basin after rail infrastructure became a potential long-term casualty after the weekend's wild storms. Mining and gas companies came through the rain and floods relatively unscathed as most of the rainfall did not go inland far enough to flood mines and coal-seam gas works. While ports, alumina plants and LNG construction sites were shut down ahead of the storms, they were not expected to suffer long-term outages. ..Work on LNG projects planning to export from Gladstone was also stopped by the storms but is expected to restart today. Work on the thousands of inland coal-seam gas wells needed to feed the Gladstone plants continued. "Initial indications suggest minimal impact on our activities," said a spokesman for BG Group, which is building the Queensland Curtis LNG plant. | philanderer | |
