04/7/2018 10:23 | The Aussie are unconcerned Lango they just bought 3.8 million shares and now trading at 47 pence | herlat1
02/7/2018 14:33 | Good share to trade that can rise 7% on an anodyne statement that congratulates the regional PP government for winning a vote, when the company's destiny is entirely at the disposal of the CSN and ruling PSOE central government, supported by Podemos. Just as long as you are not left holding the parcel when the music stops! | langostino

28/6/2018 16:24 | Junta de Castilla y León: "It is not a matter of supporting or not uranium mining but to comply with the law" The spokeswoman for the Junta de Castilla y León, Milagros Marcos, has argued today that "it is not a question" of whether the autonomous government supports the Retortillo uranium mine project in Salamanca or not, but to comply with the rules, which "are a guarantee for all citizens. " In a press conference after the Council of Government, Marcos has answered questions from journalists about yesterday's pronouncement in Congress that included urging the Government to paralyze the mine projected by the multinational Berkeley in Salamanca. "We do not support or stop supporting a project, we like it more or less, we must refer to that it complies with the current legislation," the spokesperson said. Compliance with the law is in her opinion "a guarantee for all citizens", since it is not a matter of a government exercising its personal will in one or other project, but rather in applying the regulations. For Marcos, it is necessary to "separate political and civic will from government activity." Governing is much more serious than having a particular opinion, and a government must be rigorous in complying with the norms and cannot be positioned on what it likes or what he does not like ". "You can have a voice of your own but not to create business and economic uncertainty; legal security is first and foremost," insisted the spokeswoman of the Board, which has defended the rigor of the technical reports in this regard. "We understand all the positions" but it is necessary "to separate the political debate from the rigorousness of a serious government such as that of Castilla y León", he said. | herlat1
28/6/2018 16:19 | Lango that is a report on a series of claims by your friends from Stop Uranino who are hardly the guardians of factual reporting.Once again i have yet to see any concrete evidence that either the Spanish or Portuguese governments have made any call whatsoever for the halting of the mine. Please ask your friends to send you the vote/resolution or whatever it is and post for our benefit. | herlat1

28/6/2018 12:32 | Anyone been following for the last few decades, the crazy politics about whether or not to build a new third runway at Heathrow? Wonder how many jobs that would create? But a few locals seem to have astonishingly strong influence on the outcome of a project of national importance.. Approved by HMG the other day and instantaneously kicked into the long grass again by the opposers who have sought a legal challenge. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
28/6/2018 12:14 | Signals only appear mixed then. Thanks herlat1 & JSWJSW. Just awaiting the final, final go-ahead. | dogwalker
28/6/2018 12:02 | I think you will find that there is no evidence at all that the Government at any level has come out against the project. The more you follow these articles in minor publications there is no substance to them. Just headlines. Lango you appear yo have direct contact with the Greens. Can you specify when the Spanish Government came out and opposed the project? Seriously take a moment read the translations. The Greens make headlines out of their own noise and rely on social media to repost. | herlat1
28/6/2018 11:34 | That's just recent is it JSWJSW ? I mean the last sentence. Yesterday 'the government' seemed to be robustly against the project, didn't it? | dogwalker
28/6/2018 07:59 | Also wrote to the co & had this reponse: We are running a very successful business which has the Capital costs fully funded and is progressing the only major uranium mine in the world today. We are making the €250 million investment creating 2,500 jobs in a region which has some of the highest levels of unemployment in the EU and is losing up to 100 people per day. 100,000 people have left looking for work over the past five years. Another 20,000 will leave this year. Recently over 200 of Salamancas business community turned out in full support of the mine. Of course there is a large body of anti nuclear protesters who have been opposing us. They come with the territory and generally they get very vocal as things progress. That said the headlines generated by the opposition groups are just that, headlines. The Government’s robust and unequivocal statement is clear. | jswjsw
28/6/2018 03:04 | Worth reading:One day later the Castilla y Leon Government gave this response:General Secretary of the PP in Castilla y León, Francisco Vázquez.14 June Vallodolid (EFE) "...in relation to the project for the exploitation of the uranium mine that the multinational Berkeley projects in Retortillo (Salamanca), the PP of Castilla y León supports this activated socially challenged even by the national PP, which yesterday supported the Congress of Deputies an initiative to urge the Government to paralyze this activity. "We are characterized by a certain coherence in decision-making and that is not going to change now, we respect the decision of the Congress but we will continue to maintain our position" in favor of the uranium mine in Retortillo (Salamanca), it has concluded." 27/6/2018 04:44 | It is all pretty clear. The new interim Socialist Government are purportedly going to stop the mine. Simples. Until this scenario changes the price is going to fall. All very unpleasant for holders. | liambilson
26/6/2018 23:06 | Clearly the move to the Main Board and the new Madrid quotation have done nothing so far to support/stimulate the share price which unfortunately now looks to me like a falling knife. The question is just what has spooked the market so much to cause this massive sell-off at a time when other uranium stocks have been doing well? Berkeley has lost significantly more than 30% since December when by comparison sector bellwether Cameco has GAINED 30% over same time frame. Perhaps other posters, including especially herlat1, would care to share their views and opinions on why the BKY share price has fallen so very much recently at a time when other uranium companies have shown robust positive gains. 26/6/2018 14:21 | Translated...The Congress asks unanimously to paralyze the uranium mine in SalamancaEFEMadrid13 jun 18 Congress today called on the government unanimously to paralyze the Berkeley company's project to build a uranium mine in the Salamanca town of Retortillo. The Lower House has unanimously approved today a report on the activities of the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) that includes numerous resolutions on nuclear energy and, among them, several related to the future of this mining facility. In this sense, the report that has been approved by the Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda Commission asks the Executive to provide all the information of the project to the Government of Portugal as an interested party, in view of the impact that the installation of this facility would entail. Also requests the Executive to ensure the maintenance of environmental and health indicators in the area and has asked the Nuclear Safety Council to send, before the end of July, a detailed report on the current status of the evaluation of the request of the authorization to build the mine. The project "Salamanca" that the company Barkeley launched for the extraction of uranium in Retortillo envisaged a global investment of 250 million euros, the creation of 450 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs and start production in 2019.EFE | cheaky monkey |
