QuePassa - I am not Herlat1 but for me a major issue has been the lack of information emmanating from BKY.

But I want to hear from Herlat1 et alumni.

The silence is deafening so far but speaks volumes.

QP,

I suggest you have a read of the Times supplement Raconteur - Future of Mining (pages 6 and 7) issued this morning April 27th.

Best wishes

Well the enormous "explosive" uranium price spike which was much hyped didn't really happen. A short-lived rise came and went. Maybe it will in the future. Who knows.

All the analysts with their sky-rocket share price forecasts on BKY were wildly wrong.

At one point, certain parties were predicting a 200p share price by 2018.

Reality is that share price has back-tracked enormously from near 70p a year ago to 45p today.

I don't wanna hear it all blamed on the price of uranium because the Salamanca mine was supposedly highly profitable at even these depressed prices.

The most bullish voice on this bulletin board has been herlat1.

Would he and/or anyone else care to comment on this and why the share price has tumbled so much over a year.

Herrera asegura que la mina de uranio de Salamanca no se llevará a cabo si el CSN no garantiza que es inocua

There is no definitive answer at this time. Only speculation on timing and result

Sorry not to come back to you bookworm. Believe we will get a definitive answer when company publishes its next quarterly results which should be any day soon.

Hi Wiseacre - I've been trying to find out when BKY can expect the final nuclear approvals (aka "radioactivity licence"). On what basis do you say "autumn" - very interested to learn. Thanks.

It's a 'manana' situation. That's my guess anyway.

Thanks LangoIts clear from the relevant para that BKY mine has the full support of the Spanish government which has reassured its Portuguese counterparts."Diplomatic sources stress that there are no disputes between the two countries, after a year ago, an agreement was reached to keep Portugal informed at all times about the plans to build a temporary nuclear warehouse in Almaraz (Cáceres). Now, the Spanish government has similarly channeled the Portuguese concern over the project to open a uranium mine and a processing plant in Retortillo (Salamanca), a project that, in any case, will not materialize in the short term since is awaiting three reports from the Nuclear Safety Council."

Langostino you fat crustacean why do you have to drag up press reports which are 12 months old i.e. 28 March 2017? The company then made a statement: "Contrary to recent reports there has been no suspension of approvals and construction continues at the Salamanca project which will employ 450 people on site and will create a further 2000 jobs in a region badly hit by unemployment .....
" With strong EU support for this important project for the security of clean energy supply we continue to work closely with all regulatory bodies including the Nuclear Safety Council." The company's response was picked up by both the local and national media.

langostino for once that is actually quite an interesting article regarding the project.

The share price has held up nicely though considering the wider market.

NOTICE TO MEMBERS
Subject: Petition No 0174/2017 by Ismael Antonio López Perez (Spanish) on the
uranium mine in Retortillo and Villavieja, Salamanca

"... It also appears that the project in question has been made subject to an EIA that concluded in September 2013 that the integrity of the concerned Natura 2000 sites would not be adversely affected on the condition that a suitable Plan of environmental measures (mitigation measures) be elaborated by the developer and approved by the competent authority before the authorisation of the project. ...

... I take that to mean that BKY will have presented a "suitable plan" for the protection of the environment and is waiting for the assessment of the Nuclear Safety Council ... {which if convinced will approve the plan but no doubt with certain conditions to satisfy some complainants}

This, I think is the key phrase from the article - not Portugal's objections (which can be and will be ignored):

"What remains to be decided by Spain is the granting of the final license to operate the uranium processing unit, which Berkeley intends to build next to the mine. This licence is pending at Spain’s Nuclear Safety Council. Without this license, the project is dead in the water."

Paul Atherley refuses to address this matter directly - which makes me think that there is something of an issue with this "radioactivity" license.

The H1 financials seem pretty predictable. The company is doing a good job (biased maybe?) in its communities programme and ensuring support and opportunities at the mine project from the local unemployed. It seems to me a game of patience - there was a good buying opportunity in the second week of Feb which coincided with my holiday - damn! I don't know if I would have chosen BKY however.Cheers, tightfist

Despite the likes of langostino coming the raw prawn with us (as the Aussies like to say)this one is going up. The Greens may make a lot of noise but they really don't count for anything much.
