You wonder at what point this one will break the down trend, £161m MCap, acquisitions have turned out well, revenues up, profits on increase, market outlook for business let’s say fragile = continuing conditions for this business look solid. Crazy

It was priced as a hedge for a deep UK recession, that has not really materialised, IMO.

Did they overspend then? Hence the share price tumble? Too many gravytrainers.

More than 1 in 5 (22%) trading businesses reported that their turnover had decreased in May 2024 compared with April 2024, which is broadly stable from last month; in contrast, 17% reported that their turnover was higher, while the proportion that reported turnover stayed the same was 52%.

Businesses were already struggling. A net revenue balance of -5 last month suggests intensifying difficulties. While today's retail sales figures are positive, they've been a bit erratic and the 3 months on 3 months a year ago figure is -0.1%.

The monthly numbers were mixed but it still looks like the underlying trend is probably upwards. Don't forget that BEG have been gaining market share in recent years.

Anyone know how cannacord got to to that valuation? Its quite an increase in the multiple of current EPS unless they were expecting higher earnings growth is it not?

Ah. I found a forecast from 2022, where they were predicting 49% YoY adjj. PBT growth. That is looking somewhat optimistic at present. Pity, I'm underwater on this one.

If I am correct, that same target price was set over a year ago.Considering the dire state of the UK economy, then and now the performance has been very disappointing .

Economic headwinds including rising costs, along with new regulations, tighter lending and higher borrowing rates, will keep pressure on companies. This, in turn, raises the risk of defaults and bankruptcies.

The number of corporate bankruptcies in Germany has risen sharply, continuing an already upward trend. A tough financial climate impacted by global events is believed to have irreparably damaged many firms.

I'm sure similar circumstances apply within the UK.
