Outlook does seem promising. New note published by Equity Development with 165p / share still seen as fair value, free access see here: https://www.equitydevelopment.co.uk/research/comfortably-ahead-of-market-expectations

Paul Scott very positive on Stockopedia. "Begbies Traynor (LON:BEG) (I hold) - year end trading update for FY 04/2021 - comfortably ahead of expectations. Also strong cashflow, ending the year with net cash of £3.0m. 4 acquisitions in the last year have gone well. There's lots to like here - I see BEG as cheap, and executing well on acquisitive growth."

Begbies must be outperforming the overall insolvency market, as the actual total UK insolvency numbers are down YoY in last 6 months. Bodes well for when they start to normalise.

trading update "We expect our results for the full year will be comfortably ahead of market expectations. This will represent another year of growth in revenue and profits, whilst investing in the group to expand the range and depth of our service lines."

Hope the guys at MAF get their full earn-out - will mean BEG bought a business generating £2m PBT for less than £12m. Looking at the note from Shore Capital (they haven't adjusted their forecasts for MAF - awaiting coming weeks TU) the EV/EBITDA progression (based on 119p) struck me as interesting:- 2020A 14.1 2021F 12.3 2022F 8.7 2023F 8.0 If they achieve their forecasts, that looks good value - BWDIK.

Could be very bullish for this sector, new law coming in that will enable HMRC to go after Directors if they don't wind their company up properly and other bits. www.businessrescueexpert.co.uk/directors-could-face-punishment-for-avoid-bounce-back-loan-repayments/

High input inflation gonna make some firms struggle.Supply chain disruptions, soaring shipping costs.Gilt interest rates going up, gonna make borrowing costs higher.IMO not good for businesses in general.

After the strategic and earnings enhancing acquisition of finance broker MAF, Equity Development adjusts forecasts and still think 165p/share is a fair value for a well-run and diverse professional services group. Not sure I'd call the volumes "hefty"!But certainly looks like lots of sustained small sells, and not many buyers around.Guess this is the problem in between updates.Next set of results should be great. Expecting a huge uptick in their commercial property auction arm. Insolvency volumes will still be muted but should show a bit of organic growth.

This is very gloomy reading and sadly the reality of how things have panned out. Clearly a different story for those companies who have benefited or stand to benefit through market share gains. Naturally the financial markets aren't looking at things like this. Does it really matter when it's QE forever and low rates for extended periods? Very much a divide out there. More and more less experienced market participants are realising it's QE forever too so the party goes on. Perhaps these tentative signals of inflation in recent company updates could become more of an issue in the future but it's nearly always the same recently. Market goes down a few percent and it's the best buying opportunity ever or if it falls 10-15%.....Where are the FED? Where are the FED????? Oh there they are....happy days! All imo DYOR

We are definitely in a risk-on environment where a report of 42% increase in distress of companies YoY doesn't elicit any reactions or news coverage!
