02/7/2014 13:23 | No stock available for anything other than small buys. Well worth a punt. Something will happen eventually to unlock property assets. | knitcraft
01/7/2014 13:10 | Moving up on almost no trades so take care. | simon templar qc
01/7/2014 12:02 | Something behind the scenes? share price moving up, delayed reporting. Something to keep quiet? Worth a punt on a t/o with assets well over current share price and property investor as largest shareholder. | knitcraft
06/6/2014 21:24 | slowly, slowly, catch the monkey. | knitcraft
27/5/2014 15:41 | Another tick up on minimal volume. Interesting. | knitcraft
27/5/2014 09:07 | Tick up on small volume. Looking very interesting. Property assets worth considerably more than share price and trading on the high street showing signs of life. | knitcraft
23/5/2014 15:05 | 10.75p best offer, then 11.5p.Interesting. Watching carefully. | knitcraft
22/5/2014 22:29 | And shareholder Mr Perloff has been conspicuous by his silence for a lengthy period. | coolen
22/5/2014 17:03 | Little flurry today. Retail sales figs good, property values off bottom. Looks a reasonable opportunity with net assets over double share price | knitcraft
30/3/2014 13:12 | HoF story:- | jeff h
27/3/2014 16:41 | Retail sales figures up maybe that is the reason. | simon templar qc
27/3/2014 16:22 | Positive movement in the last hour. Unusual. Any ideas? | knitcraft
23/3/2014 13:06 | ST QC - the Tonbridge store involving Sainsburys was leased. Yes I agree an uphill struggle from a trading perspective but lots of potential from a corporate perspective. HoF seemingly about to float after refuting takeover offers ....so still hope yet! | jeff h
22/3/2014 18:28 | jeff I doubt very much whether the Sainsbury's cash inflow will be replicated anywhere else myself. Not all the stores are freehold. I agree its not over yet but cash is restrained and if they manage to claw back sales it may survive but its an uphill struggle at moment, hence I say this year could make or break. Weather turned colder again after the sun of late. Also Perloff has given the company a bit of lee way on rents but that is only short term. | simon templar qc
22/3/2014 17:19 | I don't think the statement was that bad, most of it is regurgitated from the Final results commentary. Weeks 1-16 was -4.4% lfl but wks 1-19 is now -4.0% lfl with "the start of March seeing a continuing improvement in trade" As for the timing of the IMS well it is the same as previous years. The Tonbridge lease well may see another "up to £3m" roll into the coffers (otherwise why would have Sainsburys paid an initial £1m) which is more than the current market cap and transactions like this could be repeated in the remaining stores. So not a basket case imo. | jeff h
22/3/2014 16:33 | I can't see anything else but failure. The business is just out dated. Just interested to see how Perloff makes a profit out of this. His tactics are intriguing. | topvest
21/3/2014 21:15 | Perloff has protected part his investment by buying some of the freeholds and sale and lease back, but losing money on his shares. Swings and roundabout. This year could be the make or break for Beales. | simon templar qc
21/3/2014 20:49 | st, yes, i agree, i didnt however advocate playing this as a property play for p,i's, i wouldnt touch this with a barge pole there is no percievable upside, it is a property play, but the player appears to be perloff, i would surmise he already has plans in place | hvs1
21/3/2014 20:03 | I was in my local mens department at Beales last week and the store assistant was overheard to say sales quiet. Am not so certain about a property play myself if the company was to be unable to carry on the redundancies and debt would probably outweigh the property. Most of the property is probably now secured with Perloff. That is why the market cap is so low. Its a gigantic risk at the moment. The CEO says himself cash is restrained. They probably had to make a trading update today as its probably seen as a profit warning. Next and Marks have sales on the retail environment extremely tough. I think I would avoid at the moment. Its only 3 weeks after year end statement that says it all! | simon templar qc
21/3/2014 19:52 | indeed, how the hell does a train wreck keep going, the most profitable part of the business is probably the cafe's they have in some of their stores, feel sorry for the employees, must be demoralising working for a corpse of a business, gotta be a property play at some point | hvs1
21/3/2014 19:38 | I read the RNS but couldn't really make head not tail of it. Is the company growing now or deteriorating its difficult to tell from the wording. Overall sales are down but what about latest period? They are cramming a lot of stock in the stores but is it selling. I have no position here just curious. I mean how can they claim to be turning the company around when the company still seeing a decline in sales? | simon templar qc
21/3/2014 19:34 | The IMS was truly terrible. This is a real dog of a business. Have a look at their internet site if you want to see how behind the times they are. Can't understand how they keep going to be honest. The comment regarding "limited" cash resources says it all. I would suggest these will be in severe financial difficulty soon. It just can't continue. | topvest
21/3/2014 13:33 | All things considered reasonable progress which suggests well placed for any general upturn in spending. The new pension arrangements will add to the spend of a lot of Beale's customers. Disaster seems to be averted and share price looks like being rerated soon. | knitcraft
02/3/2014 16:43 | Yes, a real dog of a business. Just interested to see what happens. Own Panther shares and always interested in Perloff's pursuits. | topvest
01/3/2014 22:06 | Agree, well worth watching. | knitcraft |
