Bearing in mind there apparently is no actual shortage of property in the UK... When this is over who's gonna buy all these highly priced and not exactly generously sized new houses and flats?

careful. Everyone lives somewhere. Population has been expanding quicker than properties built for decades. That's my investment case in a nutshell and with or without CV people will be living in homes, be they private or rented, homes are needed.

Taylor Wimpey have now suspended payment of all dividends, and closed all sites. I wonder what will happen with BDEV.

Difficult to imagine property prices will hold.
Buy to let will collapse, no confidence, high unemployment.

This crazy love affair with property will be over.

kickingking ,
good point sport and builders hammered again today . IG markets have increases their
margins a lot and will not allow shorting in some stocks which is a pain ! but sadly shorting is the only game in town and especially after some stocks rocketed yesterday as not sustainable .

These went down to .90 in the last recession. All this stuff about housing shortage, im not sure there is and with the brexit fiasco huge number of europeans have left and are leaving uk. melt down housing sector, same old in uk, every ten years. House prices will halve.

Yes we need lots of houses but somewhere along the line, the word AFFORDABLE has been left out of the eqasion.

The problem we have got is that the majority of people think the stock market and the property market, is a one way ticket to make money. but I am afraid that anybody heavily invested in builders, with a very large mortgage is in big trouble.

The UK needs houses desperately so these will bounce back as BDEV are a good run company.

When a lot people start losing their jobs, there won't be many people buying houses. This will cause house prices to come down and less profits for housebuilders.

who said that no no stock goes down in a straight line and normally they do NOT !
the dow and nasdaq will probably tank on opening offering no support to the UK market .
