David Buik said that 4th quarter will be better for investment banks. So the current weakness we're seeing mean 3rd quarter revenue is priced in.

With that information in hand, i'm happy to hold my long term holding.

Had some shares in Ionica now called Micadant. Still waiting for the final payment. A chunk of the 40m in cash they had went on solicitors and directors slaries. Sold EMG last week as had a good run and bought BARC. Not a good short term decision.

Ken's Somnus should set Ken to Order to open a FTSE Buy 5763 and a Sell 6731 neither would have opened yet.

FTSE opened between PP 5762 and S1 5731

the £19 barclays was of course before the 4 way split I believe...

oh and financials continued to slide in US tonight ( including barc adr's)

it seems to be easier to make £10 on Walkers rainy days competition online that it does trading barc

Erric - The oldest share I have in my portfolio was bought in 1998, so some of them go back a bit. The oldest BARC was bought in 2000 at 412p so I haven't made much on those in 10 years have I?

This thread was started in July 2001.

Erric, I'd join that club. How about Brent Walker - lost a bomb in that. BT bought at £9.50, Pearson, Bought at £16.00! I'm cursed!!!

Ken, how far are you going back to arrive at your losses of 142k.
Do you include holding vodafone at over £4, matalan at £10, Barclays at £19, Torex over £5 like me in 1999/2001.
If so, I'm thinking of setting up a "burnt fingers" society and you and me can be first members.

Yes lots of us and at the moment it's costing me £142k, still I've had one bit of luck today: I couldn't make out why my portfolio had lost £54k this morning and I've just found out that DATA has stopped trading and they are sending me a cheque next month!
