More completely shameless lies. The government did not 'borrow' and does not need to 'pay back'. Where did the money come from? The answer is that the money was created by the Bank of England at the behest of the government. If the Treasury asks the BoE for funds, the latter is obliged by s. 13 of the Exchequer and Audit Departments Act 1866, to provide the money. There is no 'borrowing', and so therefore the 'repayment' of this money (which will be part of Tory policy for the next election) is a blatant lie, and is designed to facilitate the grand-scale theft that is 'austerity'.

Starmer replying to budget speech. Given up on Annaliese Dodds (who?) which is not surprising. 4 million children living in poverty? An hour ago, he was complaining about cuts to foreign aid for Yemen (where?) There is no "child poverty" in this country that is not self inflicted.

Good if you live in one of the 8 freeport areas. stamp duty cuts are good. Less good is freeze of PA for 5 years. 19% to 25% in 2 years time for company tax.

I don't see any point in Sunak getting on his feet today, he'll just be confirming all the rumours. I can't see any surprises not already in the public domain, thanks to the farcical leaks and I suspect this is planned.

Manics : Can Rishi get us into 17X? I don't want to get ahead of myself but it feels like we are steadying ourselves for a strong push north across the market. Barc made money through the pain of full blown lockdown last year, now we are about to be set free and the wheels of the economy can drive forward. Come on Barc.... lets start with a 2 on the share price over the next 2-3 weeks 🤞🤞🤞
