Evening Standard :

The FTSE 100, which is famed for being full of oil and mining companies, was being called up 65 points at 6688.5 on the IG trading platform. BP and Shell were expected to make strong gains, while others reliant on Big Oil, such as Barclays - a big banker to the sector - may also make gains.

So the ftse looks to open circa 50 points up this morning after a strong recovery of 500+ points for the DOW on Friday. Quite a lot of news coming through later this week.

Fed approves stimulus package which is certainly positive.

I wonder if Rishi may address the 8% surcharge tax on the banks .. this kind of fits with what he indicated in the budget ... lets hope so ! Imo I think the pru will give the banks the nod soon to allow for bigger divi's but this will surely only come after the RNS from barc on the buy back...?

Could this be the week we see the ftse break through the 6700 with conviction and push for the 7000 ...?

Its going to be interesting to see when (as I am a glass half full kind of person) the feel good factor really takes off in the UK, leading to the mini boom that I think we all know isn't a million miles away...gla and only my opinion on this chat as a small long holder of barc.

"Will be used for refinancing existing debt"

China’s Bond Market Faces Demand Test as Refinancing Surge Looms

(Bloomberg) -- A test of demand for Chinese local government debt will come this week as authorities are set to sell the most bonds in more than five months, mainly for refinancing.

Nearly 193 billion yuan ($30 billion) of local Chinese bonds are scheduled to be issued, the highest amount since Sept. 25, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Almost all will used for refinancing existing debt, except a 11.4 billion yuan bond sold by the province of Sichuan to provide capital for small local banks.

The sales come after authorities announced a larger-than-expected 3.65 trillion yuan quota for special local government bonds last week..
