15/4/2009 10:30 | why do people have such a thing about madoff with cash? His views on the general direction of markets tally with mine, downwards. His views on Barc dont tally with mine. But he gives his reasons. The market is going down to around 3,250 within six months and Barc may decline a bit. But in the long run Barc is not going broke and will probably hit £5 within three years. | hillbrown

15/4/2009 09:47 | quite interesting that panmure article chillwill... 2 paragraphs that are amusing to read- a/ "I'm of the view that Panmure always has been financially strong, but after awhile you realise that when everyone is saying 'guys you look like you have got quite a weak balance sheet', you realise that is slightly damaging perceptions and you need to do something," said Tim Linacre, chief executive of Panmure. Panmure also took a £13.7m writedown on its US acquisition. Looks like they are feeling the rub of the same coin that they used against barclays here! b/ "We bought the US business in April 2007," said Mr Linacre. "If you plot the graph of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, you'll see that's just the top of the market., We bought the company for equity which we issued at £1.81 a share. Our share price is now 34p so its quite right we've taken a goodwill write down." | aanilkumar

As I said earleir, we can all get things wrong but you do seem to have a certain knack for it. | dorset64
