The City -now an international embarrassment. FTSE100 used to track DOW at approx. 55% by points now it is less than one third.

A London listing (which used to be coveted) is now effectively saying that you don't really expect much from your business.

m1k3y1: recognise BARC as the Boomer relic it is. A walking ghost of yesteryear, outclassed by both legacy peers and new competitive entrants. New technologies.Already the price has gone nowhere for 25 years (a generation). It is the slave ship in harbour, floating on a dark sea of irrelevance with the winds of change (regulator, government, public and law maker revulsion) tearing her sails to shreds. The world has changed imo.

Paxman says anyone over 65 shouldn't be allowed to vote. Why let frosted thinking and life experience from yesteryear influence 100 years down the line?

It doesn't make any sense. Weed it out imo.

Sorry Portside - Your last question arrived while I was answering your previous one.

You probably know already, but I'm 82 years old and officially retired in 2004. My son asked me if I'd help him out by acting as accounts manager in his factory, but when he sold out I wanted to retire and the new owners asked me to find a replacement. A girl arrive at the office one day, saying she was on benefit and asking whether we had any part time work available. She worked 3 hours each morning doing all sorts of jobs, such as inputting orders on the computer to actually helping out in the dispatch dept when the staff were off sick.

It soon became obvious that this girl was brilliantly clever and was totally wasted. I realized that she was capable of taking over from me and suggested that she come and work with me to see whether she would be interested in that. Her answer 'I only want to work 15 hours a week or it will affect my benefit'.

The girl who eventually took my job was paid £60k pa, but of course she wasn't English.

Portside - As you know I voted to remain in the EU, because I can see the costs involved in leaving. You may have done your sums and been able to see that the costs as being worthwhile, but most of the country are not financial wiz-kids so voted based on emotion rather than the facts.

I voted out and want out , no deal is fine ,But it looks now like bothering to vote is pointless and I no hundreds who now are going not vote again , Democracy the U.K. as been telling the world to have democracy , well the U.K. via our so called mps have made. Democracy a dirty name , The U.K. under the remoaners have put two fingers up to democracy ,So ken in future. If we do not like a election results should we take to the streets burn cards set fire to buildings because in my view that is what the remoaners have said Looking forward to your answer

Few people understand the facts behind Medical access. Eg even a British passport holder can not access free treatment in the UK if they are not a UK tax resident. There are rules for state pension recipients and other rules for those not yet receiving a state pension. Emergencies are, of course, also treated differently.
This is an area with lots of media driven blabla and little facts.

Portside - I thought you would find that interesting and we all know it's the only way to overcome the Irish border issue!

Have you worked out how much the Brexit vote is going to cost us yet?
