Remember the Macmillan phrase "selling off the family silver"? We are now down to the crockery.

Foreign predators have launched a £74.5 billion takeover blitz on British businesses.
The Government's response, frankly, has been pathetic.

In ratings news, HSBC, which sees Barclays as a ‘buy’, set a price target of 250p on the stock. According to MarketBeat, the lender currently has a consensus ‘hold’ rating and an average valuation of 226.24p.

Diku - I'm commenting in the BARC thread and therefore the DOW's probably the most appropriate index to consider in that context.

That said, I think most sectors are pushing it valuation-wise and therefore I'm out for the time being. I may miss the top of the bull run but that's fine with me. capital preservation is my priority at this point.

It has been a wonderful last 8 years but I sense the party's over.

US indexes are at lofty levels due to a handful of mega caps...aka Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc etc...if bad news comes out of Dow component then pile into the Nas & vice versa....this sort of rotation whilst creeping the indexes higher has been going on for 2 years...one weaker index is cushioned by pilling into another index component...all inter linked...

Diku - DOW now yields <3%. Last month it was 2.7%.

Look at the long term chart for the DOW - the risk reward ratio no longer stacks.

I sold all my equity investments today, my entire portfolio.

The Dow's trading at all time highs, the yield in US stocks is now unsustainable and Trump is going to be a disaster for the US. What goes up must come down and I'm now going to sit on cash and wait for it to happen. The warning signs are there for all to see so I'm out.

Going down to 150 would be ideal as could do with averaging down a position. Large DoJ fine and a loss for the year would be most helpful.
