based on the business they are taking off other banks

didn't Santander buy the better parts off ABN in Brazil

I have for the past 2 years considered BNC to be a buy in the lower half of the £4 to £5 range and a sell at around £5.30 or better bwdik

I suppose it depends on whether you are a buyer or a seller. Or a holder. :-)

I think it will be allowed once a year for the time being. I shall have to inform Barclays of my preference before I believe it is 26 October

Currently, dividend is 5¢ per quarter.

Try here:

Note there is a 20% Spanish Witholding Tax taken from SAN dividends. This reduces to 19% next year. Previously you could avoid this tax by taking the scrip dividend option, but the scrip dividend scheme is ending.

LLOYDS or BNC mid-morning price looks a good buy
back in 06 barc/woolwich offered the best mortgage deals
now santander are the best of all the banks, will sweep
the floor against the rest, as all round trouble free service
my experience is nothing but stress with lloyds subbing out mortgages
to Handelsbank, screwing up the chain, lost cheques, a shambles

The Economist.. NO to What??
M/Lynch data shows US investors put $66 billion into european equities
so far this yr, but nothing as good as the word Austerity being thrown at
finance ministers to keep governments in check.

Good Pvb Slick output from Santander but shareholder returns will depend upon delivery they are currently meagre and prospect not exciting. They anticipate recovery in Brazil - indeed performance in Latin America would help - also for holders of ALAI ! A lower euro will benefit Spain as Greece if it stays in. the stock might be a hedge if UK and sterling go sour but there are probably better ones in my thinking.
