1. CERP didn't have any money and would still be in the same position in 3 years time unless a benefactor came in.
2. Perseverance is the biggest drill happening anywhere. It's likely to find what they are looking for. Exposure to this for CERP holders is attractive if it's successful.
3. BPC's contacts and experience much deeper than CERP, especially for mature assets but also for finding new oil in underexplored basins.
4. Combined group larger than anything CERP could have achieved, with material upside for holders.

I think this is why BPC have timed their acquisition perfectly when oil was at the bottom and we had Covid-19, meaning assets were picked up on the cheap with upside and the growth profile from the low extremely profitable, particularly where Saffron is concerned. A new discovery as yet unknown, but believed >230m barrels, if the well data and survey work is to be believed.

Beggerman - The period when Stena need to announce does begin on 1st September. But the announcement can happen any time between then and 31 October.
So, anytime between after the bank holiday, and Halloween!!

In fact this article also caught my eye back in 2010... the last paragraph...
