Hi Mattd1 - If you want a good conspiracy theory and there is a lot of talk of it here it is that Coronavirus is a weapon grade biological weapon which got out by chance. China has the antidote and hence has been able to control it - they are not giving it to the WEST and the west knows it and has moved quicker than expected to quarantine in places like Italy as they know millions and millions will die.

This weapon was to be used in war as a weapon of fear and not one to kill all the civilian population but one to weaken morale so the country was defeated without the total destruction of infrastructure or the need to resort to doomsday scenario weaponry

Markets have got wind of this and now we are selling given the overstretched valuations previously all the way to DOW 10,000 at least

It’s the beginning of the end of globalisation, economy’s less dependant on international supply chains who are willing to provide proper well paid jobs in the domestic economy rather than importing cheap labour or manufacturing in China etc is the way forward, rather like the UK since we are now a self determining state again . . .
The end of Oil and Gas will allow a new earth sustaining (ie green ) industrial era to begin in earnest , like it or not this is what will happen . . .
Quality of life will be more important going forward than quantity and excess consumption . . .

It's not just CV and subsequently POO that are singular issues - it's likely these are proving to be catalysts to burst the bubble on a global financial system that was already stretched close to breaking point- 2008 came close to a complete breakdown of credit and finance markets - the markets are worried this next phase of that crisis brought about in part by QE could be much worse.
