14/9/2018 13:49 | On one of my Falkland Island tours we were given a couple of the early types of these. We were also told that they could go anywhere, lots of the guys had a great time trying to prove otherwise. That was until our CO took his Land Rover off road and got stuck, we despatched the BV to recover it. After a few hours a very bashfull CO was dropped off back at HQ in his Land Rover without a sign of the BV. Eventually he came into the office and explained that the BV was stuck "up to its doors" in a peat bog. It appeared that the BV dutifully arrived and freed his Rover. The boss was so impressed he had to have a go on the BV, to which he promptly drove straight into a deep Peat ditch, and his efforts to get out resulted in it sinking up to half way up the doors. To get out he had to use the cabin roof exit hatch! Second BV despatched to recover first BV without a problem. | ribblewader

25/8/2018 14:39 | Nice article. As the article references, the aircraft carriers buy you more than just the aircraft carriers. Only a moron would ignore the intangible benefits that may come from perception and cooperation which, I am sure, will easily cover the £bns spent. | minerve
