11/7/2018 13:14 | Ribble Isn't this resurrecting the follow on MMRCA requirement that the French would not step up to (and bagged the fly-away ones), obviously stumbled after that. | squidsgone
11/7/2018 11:01 | @Wad, It's an update on the original I believe. | fangorn2
11/7/2018 10:13 | I see the Indian Air Force (IAF) have sent out a RFI (Request for Info)regarding the purchase of up to 110 fast jet fighters. There are four twin-engine aircraft in the fray: the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Block III, Eurofighter Typhoon, MiG-35 and Rafale. Two single-engine fighters have been offered: F-16 Block 70 and Gripen E. A while ago both Typhoon and Rafale were the only contenders which passed the performance requirements, but not through life cost challenges! Another requirement is they need to be manufactured (not only assembled)in country. Now BAE are already doing that with Hawk, this could be an opportunity... | ribblewader
11/7/2018 10:00 | You've posted that one on cobots already 2 weeks ago. I am finding difficulty looking at 2 parallel BBs. | wad collector
10/7/2018 15:56 | That was a great showcase for the RAF, almost made me want to put the uniform back on! Reminded me of the Queens Flypast at Finningly in the 70's for her silver (?) anniversary. | ribblewader
10/7/2018 15:29 | Can't help but be emotional. I have been at RAF bases in the past when aircraft were retired, each base gets a flypast from the fleet, it's quite a sombre occasion | squidsgone
10/7/2018 12:35 | Should we be concerned about the holdings RNs this close to Hy results? | cmackay

10/7/2018 10:42 | BAE Systems starts moving Compass Call EW system to Gulfstream G550 BAE Systems says its engineers will soon benefit from collaborative robots – or ‘cobots’ – designed to support people with complex manufacturing of combat aircraft by the end of this year. | fangorn2
09/7/2018 09:51 | Talking of "Fighter aircraft projects" here's one BAE could get involved in "Northrop Grumman Wants In On Japan’s Stealth Fighter Project" @Squid "Actually, it isn’t the French" So who is it then Squid? | fangorn2
06/7/2018 22:24 | Indeed, lots of positives all round lately. I'm excited to see the HYs in a few weeks. | cmackay
06/7/2018 11:29 | UBS RAISES BAE SYSTEMS PRICE TARGET TO 720 (670) PENCE - 'BUY' | fangorn2
06/7/2018 08:46 | Dafrog - BAES have a lot of people based there for F35, on which BAE are a supplier only to Lockheed, (ie. not the prime integrator) | squidsgone
06/7/2018 08:34 | @Squid "Actually, it isn’t the French" Who is it then? Because it isn't the Spanish, the Germans or Italians | fangorn2
06/7/2018 00:11 | Are we tier 2? I visited Fort Worth with a NATO group 11 years ago and it was pointed out that USA znd UK flags were together at the top in the reception area with all other smaller flags below. | dafrog
05/7/2018 23:46 | In Oz, plenty of positives about the ship contract but even more so about the long term support and training | ribblewader
05/7/2018 18:51 | To presume would be folly..... and actually, it isn't the French. | squidsgone
05/7/2018 17:16 | BAE Pacific 24 boat build set to grow BAE Pacific 24 boat build set to grow 5th July 2018 - 14:24 GMT | by Beth Maundrill in Southampton RSS The Royal Navy (RN) is likely to order more Pacific 24 Mk IV Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB) from BAE Systems once the initial order for 60 is complete, according to the company. (Subscription restricted) BAE wins deal to supply ACVs to US Marines The US Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems (www.baesystems.com) a $198 million contract to deliver an initial 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs), with options for a total of 204 vehicles that could be worth up to $1.2 billion. (Smidgeon more colour on old news from t'other day) | fangorn2
05/7/2018 17:06 | "Can you see any other advanced western military nations clambering over themselves to jointly develop the next gen aircraft with the US? (now think why)|" Because they've never been invited to peut-etre? Name me another country/foreign defence contractor that has same extent of access to DOD contracts as BAE. Pointless discussion really as I never said "exclusively with US" whilst you however are adamant it shouldn't be with US at all. (Anti Americanism in some form I am presuming) Don't see anyone clambering over themselves to jointly develop the next generation aircraft with the Germans either! Or the Spanish! Or the Italians! Or Greeks It's the French who have the most advanced fighter aircraft programme. | fangorn2
05/7/2018 15:31 | Can you see any other advanced western military nations clambering over themselves to jointly develop the next gen aircraft with the US? (now think why) | squidsgone
05/7/2018 14:18 | correction - I meant Military 'Air' platforms | squidsgone
05/7/2018 14:16 | Yes, yet BAE doesn't supply Military Platforms to the US Govt, it is a Tier2 supplier on (say) F35. My point is that restriction will remain to such an extent that the BAE (and therefore the UK) capability will die - hence we will always be reliant on others whether we want to be or not. That is why 'second best', may actually be best. Capability - yes, US Freedom to Act - not US, and what's more, there is limited point in having the Capability if you can't use it when you wish to without the US say so. | squidsgone |
