Ribble Isn't this resurrecting the follow on MMRCA requirement that the French would not step up to (and bagged the fly-away ones), obviously stumbled after that.

I see the Indian Air Force (IAF) have sent out a RFI (Request for Info)regarding the purchase of up to 110 fast jet fighters.
There are four twin-engine aircraft in the fray: the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Block III, Eurofighter Typhoon, MiG-35 and Rafale. Two single-engine fighters have been offered: F-16 Block 70 and Gripen E.
A while ago both Typhoon and Rafale were the only contenders which passed the performance requirements, but not through life cost challenges!
Another requirement is they need to be manufactured (not only assembled)in country. Now BAE are already doing that with Hawk, this could be an opportunity...

You've posted that one on cobots already 2 weeks ago. I am finding difficulty looking at 2 parallel BBs.

That was a great showcase for the RAF, almost made me want to put the uniform back on! Reminded me of the Queens Flypast at Finningly in the 70's for her silver (?) anniversary.

Can't help but be emotional.

I have been at RAF bases in the past when aircraft were retired, each base gets a flypast from the fleet, it's quite a sombre occasion

BAE Systems starts moving Compass Call EW system to Gulfstream G550

BAE Systems says its engineers will soon benefit from collaborative robots – or ‘cobots’ – designed to support people with complex manufacturing of combat aircraft by the end of this year.

Talking of "Fighter aircraft projects" here's one BAE could get involved in

Dafrog - BAES have a lot of people based there for F35, on which BAE are a supplier only to Lockheed, (ie. not the prime integrator)

Who is it then?
Because it isn't the Spanish, the Germans or Italians

Are we tier 2? I visited Fort Worth with a NATO group 11 years ago and it was pointed out that USA znd UK flags were together at the top in the reception area with all other smaller flags below.

"Can you see any other advanced western military nations clambering over themselves to jointly develop the next gen aircraft with the US? (now think why)|"

Because they've never been invited to peut-etre?

Name me another country/foreign defence contractor that has same extent of access to DOD contracts as BAE.

Pointless discussion really as I never said "exclusively with US" whilst you however are adamant it shouldn't be with US at all. (Anti Americanism in some form I am presuming)

Don't see anyone clambering over themselves to jointly develop the next generation aircraft with the Germans either! Or the Spanish! Or the Italians! Or Greeks

It's the French who have the most advanced fighter aircraft programme.

correction - I meant Military 'Air' platforms
squidsgone

Yes, yet BAE doesn't supply Military Platforms to the US Govt, it is a Tier2 supplier on (say) F35. My point is that restriction will remain to such an extent that the BAE (and therefore the UK) capability will die - hence we will always be reliant on others whether we want to be or not. That is why 'second best', may actually be best.

Capability - yes, US
Freedom to Act - not US, and what's more, there is limited point in having the Capability if you can't use it when you wish to without the US say so.
