06/10/2021 07:12 | With any Chinese deal you have to be wary. They play under different rules to the West. | rock star
05/10/2021 07:55 | "Bacanora Lithium PLC - developer of Sonora lithium project in Mexico - Says new changes made by Mexican congress to strengthen the state electricity company will not affect lithium licenses already granted to private companies, assuming exploration work had already started. As part of the new reforms future lithium concessions would be held by the state. "It is the view of Bacanora that it has met these requirements including the commencement of early construction activities at the Sonora lithium project. The company will keep shareholders advised on any further developments," company says." | bountyhunter
04/10/2021 12:29 | Sounds like an excuse for a delay to me..... | igbertsponk
04/10/2021 12:26 | Exactly, as I have posted previously, actually never was zero but the risk may now be slightly higher. | bountyhunter
04/10/2021 12:21 | The problem for shareholders is that the offer from Ganfeng is not yet unconditional. Ganfeng can pull the plug at any moment, which I am sure they will do if there is any question mark about the Mexican government interfering in the project. While I do think the risk of nationalisation or something similar here is very low (it would cause a major international incident), I don't think it's zero anymore. | tabhair
04/10/2021 11:29 | Can't see that we would be affected by this new law but wouldn't it be unfortunate if Ganja took over and then it was nationalised by the Mexican government.I am the Chinese will be seeking assurances from the Mexican Government before they finally commit or maybe they already have them as they must have had prior knowledge of the 1 October law. | husbod
04/10/2021 10:59 | Presumably if Ganfeng have received the required acceptances from Shareholders, “their deal” goes through. Any problems with the Mexican government become Ganfeng’s problems, but they would have to payout the agreed price and Zinnwald “in specie” shares? | adobbing
04/10/2021 10:12 | Stock down today on news that Mexico will seek to establish a state-run company to mine lithium. Apparently this will not affect existing projects, only new ones. However that would be in jeopardy if Bacanora were not able to get their project into production. "Although Mexico does not yet produce lithium, Lopez Obrador said eight existing concessions for extracting the metal would remain in private hands if companies can develop the industry. Bacanora Lithium (BCNB.L), which holds concessions in northern Mexico, says it is getting close. "They must prove they have done exploration work and have the capacity to invest and extract lithium," Lopez Obrador said. The company has said it aims to begin production in 2023 and ramp up to 35,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate annually." My guess is that the takeover should still get over the line, however this move certainly throws some uncertainty into the mix. | tabhair
27/9/2021 16:03 | I bought in May after the takeover was announced. The market indicated it wasn't interested even in that free money, never mind some ridiculous fantasy of it being worth considerably more than that. I was more than happy to vote yes and take the money. It is actually a lucky escape holders from higher as they would have been diluted even further after the inevitable development delays. | hpcg
27/9/2021 14:48 | I'm holding 100,000 & voted yes for the take-over. Take your money and move on..never get to attached to a company. Plenty of other good prospects to invest in | 0rient
26/9/2021 08:24 | The cash and shares from Ganfeng go hand in hand (assuming the Mexican's approve and enough acceptances are received), if you sell at any time whether unconditional or not you will be entitled to neither. It's not like an ex-dividend situation. | bountyhunter
25/9/2021 12:46 | Oh dear Another day another private investor who thinks his company has been stolen from under him. I love the naive optimism that despite all the past failed attempts somehow this time they will be able to stop an agreed deal and then somehow magically get better terms than the company’s management managed. This is an offer not a scheme so there is NO VOTE. Ganfeng need 50% to close the deal. They hold 28.9% + 13.7% from M&G and 5.5% from the arbs gives 48.1% before any other holders have accepted. Deal done move on! | exbroker
24/9/2021 15:20 | We have launched a Go Fund Me Campaign. www . gofund . me / 002bb5ae hxxps://gofund.me/00 We intend to write to as many Private Shareholders as possible to inform them of our movement, and ask them to vote no. The GM had a 60% turnout - Stopping Apathy will enable us negotiate a better price! | dee12345
19/9/2021 22:43 | If you sell the BCN you will not get the Zinnwald as this will be distributed when the deal has closed as I understand it. There will be a difference in price between assented and non-assented stock, this should reflect the value per share of the Zinnwald which is about 5p. | exbroker
16/9/2021 16:14 | That was my impression too - worth checking | return_of_the_apeman
14/9/2021 14:01 | So to get the “in specie” Zinnwald, I have to wait for Gangfeng to cough up? I thought so long as I held BCN at the point it becomes unconditional, I could then sell the BCN and the Zinnwald in specie would show up eventually? | adobbing
14/9/2021 13:31 | adobbing - Nope. There are two outstanding conditions, Mexican anti-trust approval and sufficient acceptances from us, the shareholders. At that point it will become unconditional and a timetable will be published. You cannot sell your BCN shares and get the Zinnwald Lithium, they will be distributed in-specie at the same time as the cash at the completion of the takeover. They are standard listed shares that you can do what you want with on the open market, there is no direct sale to anyone. | hpcg
14/9/2021 08:23 | So to clarify; We’re waiting for the offer to be declared a done deal or not? If it’s declared a done deal, then we become eligible for the Zinnwald shares on that date and can then sell our BCN shares? Either to Ganfeng or on the open market? | adobbing
13/9/2021 12:51 | Some life in the corpse still it seems | longshanks
10/9/2021 16:08 | Nice little tick up into the weekend! | adobbing
10/9/2021 08:21 | Interesting, Ganfeng outbid on that one. Could prompt Ganfeng to look elsewhere in addition to the BCN deal in progress. | bountyhunter
10/9/2021 06:34 | Anyone spotted this on Kitco? | zachariah
09/9/2021 14:01 | Hi Farrugia, I've listed 6 lithium related UK listed companies here... Click on the ticker in the header e.g. EMH for more info on each. | bountyhunter
09/9/2021 13:52 | what other lithium miners do you like guys - don't have to be UK listed but I'm looking for reasonable risk/high reward plays. I'm out of this one now as i think the upside is limited. | farrugia
09/9/2021 07:47 | Thanks bountyhunter. One shouldn't discount such risks too lightly although I am inclined to think the Mexican government will welcome rather than block the deal. Equally, as the saying goes: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Selling now does secure the cash and mitigates any risk - limited as it may feel. | longshanks |
