Yes, Mr Oz, publicly tipped here today, privately tipped yesterday at around 1.15pm, giving the favoured few an extra little rise during Friday afternoon.

Acquisition of Heron Foods today sounds significant. "The Board expects the acquisition to be immediately earnings enhancing." I have bought a few more.

Mr Oz - neutral probably at least in the short term - 3/6 months.UPGS are in Asda and B&m so I guess there is a small upside chance of getting into Walmart ;)

I know some of you are in UPGS too What effect there , if consolidation of some activity ensues ? I'd think neutral but then again UPGS may get opportunities to widen their scope Comments appreciated

I agree with that - let's see if B&M acknowledge the 'rumour'; let's see if a bidding war commences ; let's see if Asda/Walmart deny it. Either way consolidation of these discount retailers is underway . Sainsbury's and Nisa, Tesco's and Booker , Amazon and Whole foods etc .

It's just a single-newspaper story, of course, but it puts them in the frame as a prime target and this may be enough to get a good pursuit going. I doubt 440p would be near enough. They were 370p recently until the directors huge sales knocked the price and most brokers, for what their valuations and target prices are worth, have 400-420p on current trading prospects. I would think a sale at 500p+ was more likely.

Probably just as well (for us) that they were't 6 weeks quicker off the mark??? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Billionaire+brothers+sell+stake+in+UK+discounter+B%26M&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB750GB750&oq=Billionaire+brothers+sell+stake+in+UK+discounter+B%26M&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65.160j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8' target='window'>https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Billionaire+brothers+sell+stake+in+UK+discounter+B%26M&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB750GB750&oq=Billionaire+brothers+sell+stake+in+UK+discounter+B%26M&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65.160j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Long time lurker, first time poster here, be nice! Sunday Times article re ASDA investigating a buyout: Asda is exploring a £4.4bn takeover of B&M, the fast-growing discount retailer run by billionaire brothers Simon and Bobby Arora. SNIP. Britain’s third-biggest supermarket chain is understood to be in the early stages of assessing a bid for B&M, which is chaired by the former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy. It would be the latest in a series of surprising swoops by the leading grocers, which are trying to diversify away from food and fill space in their out-of-town stores as the German discounters Aldi and Lidl eat into their market share. SNIP. Asda is understood to have commissioned external research on B&M. The potential bid suggests that Walmart, which was thought to have mulled a sale of Asda, is now prepared to defend the supermarket chain’s market position. hxxps://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/business/asda-eyes-4-4bn-bid-for-b-m-qqp7f0lpf

Decided to sell up for now. That was a stonking TU and the share price barely moved, so the opinion must be it's all built in. Plus a murmur that B&M is growing too fast for comfort!! Which seems weird given that's why we invest!! Moved the funds into OPM, good TU a few days ago, recent heavy price fall and a scheme announced for the Directors to increase the share price. With a PE of around 7 it feels like it's due a rerating. Sorry for the off topic, but know I get a lot of my tips/ideas of these boards - always DYOR...

I don't like the look of that chart, but I like the fundamentals here. It wouldn't surprise me if that head and shoulders plays out and we test 300p again, it pains me to say!

Needs a bit of good news to get this moving again. Keep reflecting on that one slide from the AGM, where they showed how B&M was out performing all of its competition from a growth %.
