Poundland is thought to be trading OK. It is Poundworld that is in trouble.

Another that I have just added to my watchlist on Friday and it was inspired by the news reports of Poundland being in trouble. BME I expect should benefit not only as a near competitor in terms of low prices but also given quite a few of the stores from memory are on the same retail parks and close by to each other.

The likely demise of Poundworld will surely benefit BME.
Thinking of adding.

Thanks.

That's what I thought, but there are some shares (eg certain US companies listed in the UK) where different rules apply for shares held in tax-exempt wrappers). Hence the question.

As a new shareholder here, I would appreciate some guidance from longstanding shareholders regarding the dividend payment.

I see from the recent results statement that Note 5 following the summary figures states:
"Dividends are stated as gross amounts before deduction of Luxembourg withholding tax which is currently 15%."

If these shares are held in a tax-efficient account (eg an ISA or SIPP), is the dividend still paid net or is it payable gross?

Out of interest, I note from the Financials page on ADVFN that the yield is quoted as if the dividend is paid gross.

Driven down 3.5% yesterday and then 2% on opening this morning, before recovering to end the day around 4% up. Nice little tree shake for institutions to buy some more cheap shares from nervous investors, before it ticks back over 400p in the coming days imo! Year high of 436p and brokers targets 450-475p. Don't see any reason it wont achieve these targets later this year if L4L revenue keeps delivering. DYOR Rich

What was forecast. Looks good to me despite some difficult weather impacts in a narrow time frame. German business will ramp up from now.

thx1 in the Interim Accounts BME confirm that they prepaid for Christmas stock which affected cash flow to the extent of 33.5m compared to prior year (44.2m against 77.7m in prior year)
Pre lims out tomorrow but share price has been weak for sometime which is a concern. Interim figures were very good but tomorrow will be a good barometer of the retail sector.
Pets has been hammered down to 122p so I expect an over reaction even to decent figures. I am long so hope I am wrong.

Any accountants out there can explain why using the Balance sheet I get the following change from Mar17 to Sep17 in the most recent update:
Change in Inventory = 77.4m. Receivable = 31.7m, Payables = 48.2

But in the note 11. reconciliation of income statement to cashlow it shows
Change in inventory = 207m, receivables = 14.6, payables 122.2m

Basic accounts primers always say that it a simple translation from income statement to cashflows using these numbers directly calculated from Balance sheet.

In reality they never quite align but I;ve never seen this big a difference.
I am thinling maybe B&M prepaid for inventory in the run up to Xmas but just can't quite work it out

Any chartered accountants care to explain? :-)

Struggling to hold above 4.25. Each revisit is met with a flurry of sellers, yet each dip is met with a flurry of buyers. The momentum remains intact, but a hold above 4.30 would engender confidence that the uptrend is going to continue.

Just popped into my local B & M to see they now have a frozen and chilled food section with lots of freezers. Looks a bit like Iceland. Interesting to see they are moving into food more. Should increase footfall.

I read that while people use to boast about shopping at expensive places like Waitrose and M&S, they now boast about their bargain shopping at Lidl, Aldi, Primark, B & M etc. How things change.....

OUr 2 local Homebase's have been taken over by an Aussie company. Hoping for much more trade as we had before the EU imposed tariffs on imports from The Commonwealth.

shaker44, I am sure they will and UK consumers will benefit from the likes of this company and the others you mention. That is why I am a long term investor.

If anything, constant media noise about brexit will surely lead more uk consumers to be more cautious and be more likely to shop at BME, Aldi,Lidl etc.?

Meanwhile (capitals!) so you don't accept an alternative view. Not healthy for wise investing. Sir, I'd rather filter you, lol.
