|One of my better ones today.
UT: 2059 @ 1019p|
|Chemical warfare dominating the news|
|prob results leaked or something - might be good results. buy on rumour sell on news?|
|Good rise today any reasons known?|
|Looking to take a position here next week. Forming a base around 940-960, think the results will be decent and the recent uncertainty should lift enabling a push past £10 again.|
|'Why you should consider these 2 boring growth stocks'
PLP and AVON
|Years ago, I bought this as a low PER/high divi yield stock. Of course it has transformed itself with the gas mask business etc and went through a fair bit of turmoil whilst it set up its production in US but hasn't the time come to reconsider its dividend or distribution policy? It's now yielding a measly 1% covered over 6x on whatever interpretation of eps you care to use, has net cash on the balance sheet and is generating more. Surely they should consider a re-rating of the dividend or a return of cash to shareholders?|
|Panmure increasing target from 1200p to 1279p .. retains 'nuy'|
|A few small buys today so far.|
|There is potential here for good gains. My main concerns are:
-DOD mask contract which ends in May 2018. Will AVON win new contract?
-CEO leaving with no explanation (disagreement with board on strategy?)|
|924.5p bid , not a buyer in sight.|
|Still hiring anyway ;-)

|been out of these for a bit now - starting to look cheap, would be tempted if it falls to longer term trend line at around 825.|
|Reluctantly that's me out for the time being.just don't like the sentiment here at the moment & don't want to give back all my profit. Expect to be back in at some point, once the trend reverses. Ok, cue t/o bid in the morning, that's usually my luck!!GLACM|
|Relerntless, down another 2% on just 2k traded.
There`s the culprit......15,000 @ 926.5p 'sell' just printed.|

'John Phelps's portfolio'
We were reluctant sellers of our notional holdings in Avon Rubber last week when its share price finally triggered a sell signal under our stop loss system.
The shares had been hovering on the brink for the past few weeks as a result of selling by nervous investors following the abrupt departure of chief executive Rob Rennie after little more than a year in the job.
The company says trading in products ranging from military gas masks to teats for milking machines continues in line with expectations and no fewer than three stockbroking firms believe the shares are now some 20 per cent undervalued.
But we make it a rule to eject virtually all share tips which have fallen 10 per cent from previous peaks.
Only New Year selections enjoy a temporary reprieve to allow for a three month settling in period.
The disposal crystallised a loss of just more than £100 for the 2014 portfolio which has also hit by a fall in the price of supermarkets group William Morrison after it warned on the trading outlook for 2017.
|Still slip sliding away. Chart support looks like 830p.|
|There`s not much volume, just persistent small sales.
16th may seems a long way off until we get an update.|
|Since the unexpected replacement of the CEO on 15 Feb, this seems to have been downhill all the way. Should we be worried? Is there more to it than meets the eye?|
|Looks like the 10,000 , 6500 and 2000 trades all @ 965p just printed are delayed sells from early this morning which caused the drop first thing.|
|That makes a lot of sense, Jeffian. Thanks.|
|I don't have greater knowledge. I just can't see the populist Trump cutting equipment for his armed forces. Tonight's news is all about ISIL using chemical weapons. Can you see Trump, of all people, saying he's not prepared to buy protective gear for his forces? Also, they are selling to the police and fire services. 9/11 is still a raw memory.|
|Thanks Jeffian. I just don't know whether home defence has the same demand for masks as the all too common conflicts abroad. I will bow to greater knowledge.|
|Rather the opposite, I would have thought. He's talking about a significant increase in defence spending and they are pretty committed to the Avon product.|
|With the recent fall in share price are we seeing the effect of President Trump's avowed US soft pedalling in conflicts abroad? I refer of course to the any reduced demand for military masks. Any comment on this?|
