27/2/2014 12:21 | polaris , I understand the situation fully, and the fall from 250p to below current value was justified if not over done yes its a punt,as most aim stocks are but the share price will increase as gold does, therefore I feel the share price is currently undervalued and certainly has room for improvement. | traidemark
26/2/2014 10:53 | I think you need to read the financials before stating that AVM is undervalued. It owes its major shareholder a large sum of cash that it does not have, which has the Guinea assets as collateral. Elliott is a vulture hedge fund and will be looking for the best way to monetise this and they have AVM over a barrel. Last Q production had costs of $1195 before other non-production costs and the loan repayment schedule of $1.3m pcm to the development bank on the loan taken to buy out the hedge is a big drain on any cashflow from operations. It will report in early March for FY2013 and they have a lot of issues to resolve. This is a pure punt rather than an investment and one for the short term traders only. This type of action happened in mid-2013 before production shortfalls and rising costs brought it back down again. regards, Paul | polaris
26/2/2014 10:36 | price breaking out from the recent profit taking, with the price of gold accelerating recently AVM is looking very undervalued | traidemark

18/2/2014 17:05 | very solid, very surprise... I'm beginning to think this is real.... What is going on? I've been searching for potential explanations but none found so far... I was even tempted to try and average down... I'm holding at 32p | shaf200
18/2/2014 11:19 | 2-day 50% profit booked at 13p this morning, for the following reasons 1) The price-rise has covered a wide gap on the chart, 2) the share price is well above the daily Bollinger Band, and 3) the limited follow-through this morning looks like it's trying to suck in some late-comers to the game. With gold likely to retrace much of its recent rise to $1,320, sentiment will turn negative for a while in most mining shares, but I am a buyer on the breakout at 9.3/4p when I will be able to buy some 40% more shares than I have just sold! | colinvest
18/2/2014 08:46 | well looks as though we will see 2m traded in the first hour with only 190m in issue that's a good enough indicator to me that we will see a similar day to yesterday | traidemark
18/2/2014 08:35 | Chinese buying maybe ..? They are buying up everything they can in Africa! | colinvest
18/2/2014 07:58 | 190m shares in issue and 10m + shares traded yesterday. anyone any ideas, something is happening? [...] | traidemark
17/2/2014 18:59 | I really like the look of AVM, yes its disappointed in the past and has fallen from £2.90 just 3 years ago, to 13p to buy today. I expect to see more of the same tomorrow, the selling at the close was minimal, im up early to buy some more tomorrow, if I can get in cheaply. | traidemark
17/2/2014 16:50 | iii 16:43 TECH STYLES Um without a doubt I reckon. AVM was a fairly big player before JPM slammed gold down in conjunction with the CB's / BIS but now JPM has a 65% monopoly in the AU derivatives space. It also appears that funds are leaking from MT Gox into gold which is another factor so they can't hold back the price because of that either. And the Yen has lost its correlation with the SPX which now appears to be tracking gold coincidentally. Anyways......news out early March and if ABG and HOC were anything to go by then this should be positive as long as they are still pulling ounces out of the gold. They were already on a program to reduce costs and they dropped their hedge book so plenty of uphill to come. | h2owater
17/2/2014 16:25 | this is more than a dead dog bounce (higher than a dead cat bounce), it seems more like a dead elephant bounce to me now... | shaf200
17/2/2014 16:21 | My post 1492 was spot on ..! - and it doesn't matter that gold production has been lagging, especially while the gold price is low. Better to leave their gold in the ground, and have it mined when gold is $1,500 + .... Bound to be some profit-taking from 13p, as a good buying opportunity. | colinvest
17/2/2014 15:55 | next 30 minutes is going to be very interesting, last chance to buy avm cheaply? | traidemark
17/2/2014 15:43 | the stock is completely undervalued, no wonder its rallying, back to 20p this week | traidemark
17/2/2014 15:34 | The company said in December that its fourth quarter production was impacted by breakdowns in mobile and plant equipment with mining volumes being affected by mechanical availability of the loading equipment and pit wall failures. Avocet said that all of these problems have now been addressed. The company initiated a business review in December to maximise the value of its assets and the company is now investigating a number of operational changes including moving to contract mining.
