21/5/2022 17:02 | Any clue what the next-september 2002-dividend will be? | dav1j
21/5/2022 16:40 | Indeed. Have managed to return the number of shares held to original value and have some of the "B" share monies left over (not much admittedly, but some is more than none and better than negative). The ordinary dividend also received was not used to restore original number of shares held. | matadvfn
21/5/2022 15:26 | DanB45, you're going to receive a higher dividend in future despite receiving the capital return. In one of my portfolios l held 15679 pre-consolidation so that's 15679 x 0.2205 = £3457 dividend payment for FY 2021. After consolidation l hold 11916 x 0.31 = £3693 dividend payment for FY 2022. So l deployed some of the capital return to increasing my holding in Aviva to 14500 * 0.31 = £4495. So l have less of a holding but a substantial increase in dividend over FY 2021 and a new investment. | smurfy2001
21/5/2022 14:58 | If you had used your capital return to buy back the same number of shares which you have "lost", you would now have a larger total dividend in future years from the identical number of shares you had originally. So you'd be better off, as well as the possibility of future cash returns should the company have excess capital in the the years ahead. In my book, that's a win-win-win. | grahamburn
21/5/2022 14:29 | unfortunately I don't hold within a tax wrapper / any way now I have less shares to receive divis from - would of preferred a special divi myself | danb45
21/5/2022 13:00 | Buywell has been saying all this since the dawn of time...and yet... | uppompeii
21/5/2022 12:55 | DanB45 Either a forced sell for CGT or a big special div caught by income tax were the options and normally CGT is the way to go. IF you held in an ISA or SIPP then it makes no difference. | scrwal
21/5/2022 10:40 | eurofox FT.com - supposedly 18 Analysts | 1robbob
21/5/2022 10:33 | 1robbob, what is your source for the Consensus Forecasts at 35.542p and 37.441p? | eurofox
21/5/2022 10:20 | I am intrigued !! In the Q1 update the dividend 'guidance' was quite clear 31p for 2022 and 32.5p for 2023 However the Consensus Forecasts are 35.542p and 37.441p That is a huge difference. Can anyone explain | 1robbob
21/5/2022 09:49 | you are very right !! my bad calculation :-( but still it's a forced sell liable to CGT... | danb45
21/5/2022 07:55 | marksp2011 Agreed, and CGT issues too ...I was just correcting an incorrect post | 1robbob
21/5/2022 07:07 | Please stop It was a capital return and was designed to be neutral. Water under the bridge so lets pretend it didn't happen and look forward from here. | marksp2011
20/5/2022 22:43 | DanB45 Not sure about your calculation To have received £1,862.96 your original holding woukld have been 1832 shares In the share consolidation your holding will have reduced by 24% = 440 shares £1,862.96/440 = 423.4p | 1robbob
20/5/2022 22:28 | wadders5, you can edit your posts here. | smurfy2001
20/5/2022 21:58 | coxsmn...good spot...addition High Net Worth (HMG)market names certainly attractive add-on with right team. | cyberian
20/5/2022 20:41 | 24% less ( we need an edit button like twitter....!!! ) | wadders5
20/5/2022 20:39 | Just to point out as well, the last full year dividend total pre covid was already 30p. They have reduced it post covid, and now increased it again with 24% shares. I wasn't in pre covid though so i don't feel that pain. | wadders5
20/5/2022 20:24 | well as it stands I lost 500 shares and got £1862.96 - so £3.72 a share | danb45
20/5/2022 18:56 | DanB45 What do you mean? | 1robbob
20/5/2022 18:25 | https://www.insuranc | coxsmn
20/5/2022 18:21 | what a rubbish deal for shareholders this capital return has been - if I wanted to sell 500 shares at £3.72 I would have done | danb45
20/5/2022 17:58 | A no brainer. | coxsmn |
