you're dreaming gumarabic imo.

Fact is this is so illiquid the second a few punters try to buy any size it will be up a few pence. 1.5m traded today and I bet 400K were buys so net 1.1m sells - £200K worth and it's down. A few 100K buys and these are likely to be back up 2p and then you have the spread - that after it probably opens up a penny too.

Reckon I was buying here at 4.3p-4.8p before most even knew these existed and bet I hold more than most too and I've not sold any and won't be for some time.

If these did underlying earnings of 2.4 euro cents for the year and they lost 0.4 euro cents in H1 then they made 2.8 euro cents in H2.

That's 2.5p underlying eps in H2.

Now if you can do 2.5p eps in H2 in a recession how many pence a share can you make in a full year when we ain't in a recession?

damit!

was planning on adding at 15p but then the share price fell off a cliff and tripped my s/l, so now im out!

not gonna bother getting back in just yet, TW. and HOIL look less risky to me.

am not convinced that the recent rise was not simply short covering, and maybe if that true then we could see the share price tank again later.

this is not about holiday rentals, but more about commercial vehicles.

when the economy starts to recover, businesses dont all rush out and buy a load of vans and cars, they hire them initially, and buy them if they feel more confident later.

as for holidays, this year will be poor for brits abroad, but recession will be deeper in eurozone due to the ecb being too slow, and as the pound recovers we will see a surge in holiday bookings for next year compared to this.

still a long way to go for full recovery, but a good recession is great for focussing minds on being efficient, and ave appear to have done that!

gumarabic - why are you so negative on so many stocks doing so well, like LOOK today for instance. Almost have if you want to talk down those you don't yet hold imo.

I advise you read through the recent trading here, there's a new boss and H2 results were far better than many have possibly taken a look at. If the europeans are staying at home too then Avis Europe are doing well out of that. Yep, there's risk here, I'm sure tho that the fact fewer might not holiday this year isn't new news and if investors hadn't seen that coming by now then I'd be surprised - it's in the price imo - most shares have a depression factored in, we are having a mild recession according to the item club today. I think the market will look through the next 6 months and start to realise how well many of these co's will do then - I'm sure Crispin Odey hasn't invested without knowing that there will be fewer going on holdiay this year.

My bet is there's a lot waiting to buy a dip here - lets see if it flies again the second it starts to turn blue?

Holiday bookings well down recently. Just got back from Cyprus and hotel was empty. Euro horrible. All bad for Avis imho. Having got in at 7p sold the last lot at 19p.

Have updated your share on my blog

Caution is required as resistance has appeared above the share.
Watch to see if the share can, in the next couple of days, remove the resistance line, or if not if it is able to trade thru the line lower down.

Always good to get a few traders out before the next leg up - invariably those same trades buying back in when they regret what they have done sends the price up even sharper imo.

No shorters here imo, not unless they want Crispin Odey frazzling them - he's the best hedge fund manager ever 'probably' as Carlseberg say - well he's the highes paid one at £28m a year anyway.

That 230K was the auction uncrossing trade which is matched to buyers and sellers and could be made up of many buyers/sellers.

Still, it's good to see it going through near the top of the range.

230K bought at the close - £46K worth, a decent punt on this high.

Up on good volume today.

Again not much profit taking. Very tempted to offload a few at these dizzy heights but will follow Sir Richard's 'imo' and hang on for now. 8-)

£1m into £6m in two months is gobsmacking. Well done to the Odey funds on a well-timed small-but-juicy speculative punt which so far has performed beyond anybody'swildest dreams.

My opinion and expectations however are that the fundamentals are significantly improving at AVIS and their new CEO seems already to be making a dramatic difference.

In using Avis a lot and in receiving their marketing material, there seems to me to be a really palpable improvement in company sentiment from one of laissez-faire and resignation to dynamism and newly-found optimism.

Allied to the heavy marketing and sales drive, putting their funding/refinancing on a very sound footing and corporate cost-cutting exercises, combined with a dramatic growth in corporate rentals, this becomes a potent mixture and continues to bode very well for Avis.

All IMO. DYOR.

Doesn't seem to be much profit taking to me, and looking at the 250K buy lined up amont those on the order book I reckon there's a lot of keen buyers out there still.

Very little stock about because Crispin Odey bought the lot in Feb, everything that had been sold from 25p. I think these are going higher yet pretty short term imo.
