17/3/2010 17:43 | FT Alphaville were talking about Aveva again today. Should be beneficiary of Petrobras capex in Santos basin and some broker is pushing it... Transcript here :- | robson1974
17/3/2010 15:32 | Been moving the stop loss on my SB up all day !Still a core hold for me, however : from the 'when in doubt assume incompetence' school : Arriva announced today that it had received an unsolicited approach. Think about it ! | bluebelle
17/3/2010 15:27 | Aveva has rocketed again, next news isn't due until May if last year is anything to go on. I'm looking forward to enjoying the ride till then. | chector177
17/3/2010 14:05 | I wouldn't want a takeover. The next three years will be very good driven by renewed demand for oil and booming trade in the far east. | grigor
16/3/2010 15:49 | Still rising | grigor
12/3/2010 12:34 | The share price has certainly taken off today!! | chector177
12/3/2010 11:30 | NH and keeping with today's RAW related theme NH there has been gossip for weeks NH about someone stalking Aveva NH the FTSE 250 software company NH nothing much fresh to add NH but Goldman have issued a big buy note NH that examines why this is a strategically important company NH and here it is NH We reiterate our Conviction Buy on Aveva, raise our 12-month price target to 1550p & maintain our substantially above consensus estimates. We expect the stock to re-rate as the market's focus shifts from resiliency to its significant growth potential and believe the current valuation (10.6x FY11E P/E ex-cash) overlooks: (1) cyclical recovery in the oil & gas and power end markets; (2) structural growth associated with infrastructure build in emerging markets; and (3) AVEVA NET product cycle that could double revenues in the next 5 years. In our view, Aveva remains a premier strategic asset with strong operating metrics that is undervalued vs. peers. NH Aveva's design software is highly specialized with high barriers to entry, and the company has a strong installed base of 1700 customers across the Oil & Gas, Power and Marine end markets. In our view, this makes Aveva a strategically valuable asset against the background of ongoing consolidation in the software sector. NH While other vendors such as Dassault Systemes, Parametric and Autodesk have expertise in PLM and 3D modeling, we believe Aveva has strategic appeal: NH Exhibit 49 lists technology-driven M&A transactions in the software sector that have occurred over the past several years, including a number in the PLM segment, where Aveva participates. We observe a wide range of implied multiples, from 1.7x to 13.4x EV/sales, although stripping out transactions involving companies under financial distress narrows the range to 4x-13x. Additionally excluding the upper end of the range as they tend to be smaller scale companies narrows the range to 4x-10x. Applying this range to our FY11 estimates implies a valuation of between 1258p/share and 2702p/share per share for Aveva. Aveva Group Plc (AVV:LSE): Last: 1,135, up 18 (+1.61%), High: 1,138, Low: 1,120, Volume: 71.93k NH so it could NH IN THEORY NH go out at £27 BE That's interesting stuff. | robson1974
11/3/2010 22:24 | You make a good point Electronica, we will have to see if anything matures. | chector177
11/3/2010 19:02 | Chector 1300p will never get a recommendation from the non-exec directors & the big holders would just laugh!! 1500-1600p would be the right figure in my view - bearing in mind the £140m (probably) of cash and the 70p per share (and growing) of free cash flow. | electronica
11/3/2010 10:01 | What do you think a fair price would be? Anything above 1300p would be nice. | chector177
10/3/2010 21:42 | takeover rumours 1350 FT Siemens and Dassault mentioned | robson1974
25/2/2010 13:00 | NH Right NH where now NH we could do more results NH or a little bit of RAW RAW is market chatter information that has not been formally tested through traditional journalistic channels (PRs etc). The story might be complete rubbish, but if we believe there is some substance to it we will say so. Either way, Reader Beware. BE The latter, I think. BE What's on your mind? NH ship building BE Aha! NH well BE And not VT Group I assume. NH nope NH this is about the software used NH to design ships BE Aveva then. BE Had a wee run yesterday. NH that's the one NH bid rumours about NH talk of a £13.50 a share bid NH now NH pretty illiquid stock this Aveva Group (AVV:LSE): Last: 1,045, down 3 (-0.29%), High: 1,063, Low: 1,043, Volume: 92.27k NH and probably one of the least followed in the FTSE 250 BE It's another of those Cambridge tech plays I think. NH market cap is just over £700m NH and a trade of 250,000 shares NH is a lot for this one NH Now NH I have no idea who would look at this company NH an oil field services company perhaps? BE Hm. BE My instinct is that a trade buyer could jeapordise customer relationships. BE Someone like Autodesk in the States might take a look I guess. BE No idea if the numbers work on that though. BE That's just me spouting randomness. NH do we have any notes on this company NH have we ever written about them before? BE Not much. BE As you say, they're underfollowed. BE Have just been scanning back for decent research over the past couple of months, and have come up with nothing. NH great NH Will have to make a few calls around on this later today | robson1974

26/1/2010 14:49 | Thanks sharw : don't read the Indie regularly but wouldn't argue with that piece ! | bluebelle
26/1/2010 14:35 | AVV features in the Indie Investment Column today: | sharw
24/1/2010 19:33 | Fair play sonder I may have been confusing this with Senior (probably a senior moment). RM | rampmeister
22/1/2010 15:52 | AVV is already in the 250 and the index looks at other factors than just Mkt Cap before they make the cut. I guess the trackers are already up to weight. | sonder
22/1/2010 13:31 | Momentum can continue to build with AVV currently at 257 on the list and needing around 5% rise to push into the 250. Tracker funds will be loading up and I'm sure I read there was a recent buy note from Goldman. And Goldman rule the world - don't they? RM | rampmeister
07/1/2010 17:03 | Anyone have any view as to where the share price may level at? We've had an excellent run over the last 12 months, but with PE now approaching 18x I am wondering whether to get out of this one. PB | porsche boxster
07/1/2010 16:13 | Not just today ! As I've often said, some of the best stocks have the least active bulletin boards !!! | bluebelle
07/1/2010 15:22 | Nice movement again today , up up and away :-) | chector177
03/12/2009 15:51 | nice move in the share price today. | chector177
25/11/2009 11:53 | Well that would be good in the short term but the long term potential is greater than £15 IMHO. | bluebelle |
