Nice sleuthing carcosa, all stacks up with what we were thinking, I think the company are proving to be excellent plane traders and it beats me why they are the cheapest in the sector...

QP re your post #2218 regarding cost of A220.

You can find this out from the annual report (2018, p82) and combine it with other info supplied by Avation in their presentations.

New Jet additions $283,975m
Less the A330/B777 at $247,498m
Leaves $36,477m for the A220.

If you plug in typical lease rates then it generates a revenue of ~$3.4m/year which fits very nicely with Avation previously saying it represented around 3% of total revenue for the year.

The A220 is aimed to compete with the Boeing 737 MAX 7, Airbus A319neo and Irkut MC-21-200. This is a very competitive market albeit the market size is seen as some 6000 new aircraft over the next 20 years.

Furthermore it has been fraught with political interference with the Americans imposing a 300% import duty from Canada; effectively making it unable to sell the aircraft in America however this was somewhat circumvented by Airbus taking a majority stake and having an assembly plant being constructed in USA (ground breaking next month?) although deliveries will not commence until 2020 from this plant.

However Boeing are taking the fight to Airbus/Bombadier as, for example, Boeing reportedly gave US based United Continental a massive 73% discount on a 737 deal to lock out Bombardier, dropping the price of the B737 to $22 million per aircraft, well below the A220 market value at $36 million.

With Airbaltic being the launch customer and a major customer I am very surprised they have not obtained better discounts however the deal would have been sealed when the 'list price was $80m+ so although they may have thought it was a great deal at the time, in hindsight it was not so great... but still good.

With the recently announced 'Moxy' And JetBlue orders for 120 Airbus A220 Aircraft the chances are the A220 is going to be successful (unlike the horrendously disastrous A318) which implies that in a few years the current aircraft are likely to be re-appraised as being worth a lot more than current estimates would imply. That will in turn result in a substantial improvement to NAV.

Breaking out on today's news.

Most recent Simon Thompson article rates as a strong buy and sees value as "far closer to 400p"

at a penny under 270p (offer), we are now at an ALL-TIME HIGH.

with the noteworthy fleet expansion and hidden value in the balance-sheet, the omens look very positive for further advancement.

Harrogate,

The RNS was poorly worded and open to misunderstanding.

Avation converted 8 options (which were likely to expire last December) into orders and been granted a further 8 options; hence the options remain at the 25 level.

Also, we are missing one ATR delivery which was scheduled before last year's end. Hopefully this will be announced, one way or another, shortly.

Hi same for me with one broker but you can ask them to get dividend in sterling. When I did this it arrived on the payment date. Easy to do

Had shares in this company when it went ex-dividend on 4th October 2018. Dividend was supposed to have a payment date of 18th October. My broker said they have received a cheque from the company and because it is in foreign currency it is being processed by their bankers. Two and a half months to process a frigging check? WTF. No wonder fintech is challenging the backwards traditional banking system if it takes over 2.5 months for a bank to process a cheque.

The key will also be further bringing down their funding costs.

But they have a good handle on that already.

And as their fleet grows, modernises and Avation further gains reputation and credibility, they should be able to further drive down funding costs and thereby improve their margins significantly.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Agreed . Also the commerciality of the management impresses . They are prepared to stray from the script in order to maximise valu when it appears by selling planes at premiums . Since businesses in this market sell for 1.2-1.4x NBV we are quite under-valued .
