Solus are the biggest investor in Intlesat. These guys ARE the biggest hedge funds in the satellite business and they know what they are doing. The could have wiped shareholders out, but they clearly think that a clean restructured publicly listed business is going to be easy to sell once HYALS 4 is up and running.
Rocket goes up tonight at 10.34pm. Everything crossed.

I'm sure that the hedge funds are completely aware that it's been an expensive balls up.....(re. your a,b, and c)

In answer to your need for future funding...

Well.... that's the whole point... isn't it. .......
Why go ahead with the Hylas4 satellite lauch and the debt for equity swap, if the bondholders felt that they would be better off getting what they could by liquidating the assets, cutting their losses and shutting up shop?..... because they obviously think that Avanti, properly managed, is a viable business.
Further funding may well be needed, but I think that it will/could only be raised if they can demonstrate that it's justifiably warranted to grow a successful business going forward, and not to keep a "dead duck" on life support

They ALSO said they MIGHT book a sale of $40 million - my guess is that this is totally dependent on the successful launch of HYLAS 4, in which case no new funding needed. One should never make the mistake of thinking that the future looks like the past. The whole satellite sector is on a ten year low - in fact Inmarsat share price is now on a 12 year low. experience tells me that an industry does not go in one direction forever. Improving consumer outlook in the World will see all that reverse, and a War form the Donald would help too.

But a successful launch form Avanti, an announcement of a $40 million sales and a clean balance sheet means this stock is going to look VERY different next week

......so the hedge funds are just going to dump 2bn+ shares into the market....are they?....after foregoing their first call on any liquidation proceeds and then taking a big hit on the d/e swap. Nah mate....that just doesn't add up.
I agree that the recovery will take a lot of work, but the situation is light years away from the doom and gloom picture that you're painting. This stock must owe you a lot of money.......

Here's hoping for a successful Hylas4 satellite launch tomorrow.

SOlus et al could quite happily have left the entirety of their debt claim in place and let interest roll up on a OIK basis. They have converted to equity to make the balance sheet attractive to a buyer. We as a result will benefit form that ride up to 32p which is where I expect an acquisition to happen

What a ridiculous dealing spread ...10.75p-12.7p ! My take on this is that insiders do not want any activity until their dealing restrictions are lifted after the d/e swap, then they will accumulate whatever shares that weak PIs sell. I wouldn't be surprised if they have already carved out a deal with a-another concerning the future direction that Avanti is going to take........

Wel, three of the biggest hedge funds in NYC disagree with you, I am with them !

I see there was no rational response to my last post so I conclude that we have reached a consensus that the Assets are worth in the region 32p per share. With the HYALS 4 satellite going up next week, this share could pop by 100% in the next 2-3 weeks without breaking a sweat

So you think that hedge funds announce their intention to throw money at "lost causes" in order to save face!?!?......."yes, we know that it's a loser but we don't want you to think that we're stupid, so we're going to throw some more money at it".......

Zap.......You are indeed...... a cretin!!

Zap, given that both Ophr and Isat are currently trading at all time lows, it doesn't take a genius to work out that 99.99% of all holders, including you, are going to be well under water.

Happy Easter.

My advice, Zap, would be to buy a few Avanti. You lambasted me when I bought at 7.6p 3/4 months ago..........only to see it rise up to a peak of 15.25p, in very short order......while your ISAT investment has fallen from 485p to 360p, and your OPHR investment has fallen from 75p to 52p.
Unfortunately your investment track record is abysmal....ISAT (down 65% y on y) OPHR (down from 90p to 52p y on y).
The downside here is very limited, as 97%+ of the shares will be held by the debt swap insiders and institutions, and they ain't going to be selling into the market. The Hylas4 launch is obviously critical for the company's success, although it's insured for $350mio. This company is being tidied up for a sale.....with the bondholders needing a minimum of 20pps to break even on their loan. There are signs that they are attracting partnerships and interesting new business, especially based on the African continent.
However, given your abysmal stock picking record, I am overjoyed that you are not interested in buying any Avanti, as it would undoubtedly put a curse on it for the rest of us.....

They have no where near 200 gigs total capacity, and no one wants the bandwidth on the old satellites, which is why they are mostly empty.None of the bandwidth can be used for in-flight connectivity, which they've admitted themselves, it is for fixed vsat applications. Hylas 1 is half-way though its life and only 30% odd full, and has a relatively tiny capacity compared to the next satellites? Yes, they've frittered away 100s of millions of pounds, and have a huge debt as a result, but what are the underlying assets really worth? They are still losing money every single month. The best thing that can happen is hylas 4 blows up and they collect the insurance money...

ergo $293m for the H1 & H2 Sats PLUS the $330m spent on HYLAS 4 PLUS (which you forget to mention) the approximately $100m spent on a network of Ground Earth Station Data Centres (Cornwall, German, Cyprus, Turkey, Nigeria, etc) PLUS the approximately $180m value of the spectrum assets (which they got for free but never marked UP in the accounts because that creates a tax problem, but Intelsat carries slots at $60m per slot) gets us to $903m asset value. Less that the $1.2bn they spent yes but still relevant. Take off the remaining debt of $400m Post swap and that implies a real BOOK value of $500m. Fully diluted AFTER the swap that is a share price of 32p per share.

THANK YOU for agreeing my methodology with me. Glad we got there in the end.
