Launching it is one thing. Filling it is something else.

$242 million is alot of money to lose on a maybe, they will have been convinced to have put up such a large amount of money on the success of Avn IMO

Unfortunately interest payments may outstrip turnover growth with lower pricing coming through. was 2000 per mb, forecast to go to 1200 per mb.

From today's RNS

David Williams, Chief Executive said "The Company welcomes the support of investors in funding the business with this $242m financing package and looks forward to the forthcoming launch of HYLAS 4 this year which will mark a major step forward for the business."

RNS confirmation of launch date will add real excitement to the share price, finally heading in the right direction gla

Roofer or is rolfer :-) One day I'll make you famous, if only on the shareprophets site. Dice, you get a special mention. If I win the comp I'll share one of the two tickets with one of you...whichever post gets the vote - can't be fairer than that.

Roofer - Did you read the annual report after falling off the roof? JN posts in summary for you. See share price for a comprehensive translation service. Perhap new year share price will produce a colouring book highlighting the red flags for you.

Elrico, you go for it my boy.To many dreamers who will not ever believe the facts, even if they are in black & white & staring them in their face.

Weatherman - with respect, why should I let it go? Any potential PI should be afforded facts from the bear point not just the ramp spin by the usual suspects, or do you not think the bear points are valid? They have been proven correct thus far, this cannot be disputed. I take you are OK with the CEO ramping his stock while selling it.

I am unsure what you mean by "wasting time on negative emotions." I have never been emotional about any investment or bear trade.

In my opinion. They should sell Hylas 4 to the Chinese and pay down debt, then focus upon getting full utilisation of the existing fleet of H1, H2, H2b and H3. Going forward they would seek to become cash flow positive and get a cheaper interest rate. Then look for sustainable ways of growing the business.

Let it go Elrico - this is why a balanced portfolio is worthwhile, so don't waste time on negative emotions. I've sold because prices are slipping and they have made little progress overall over 12 months Q1 16 = $16m to Q1 17 = $18m despite winning new business. Some companies just seem cursed with a run of negative events. But I'm not bitter or jealous. Just get on with looking for the next investment opportunity.

While AVN has piled on the debt and burned cash, CEO David Williams was rewarded so handsomely for failure - while investors have been bleed dry. Williams family must be proud of their wealth at investor's expense.

dudishes, they do mean 2017. It's a Q1 statement for the financial year ending 30 June 2017.

I'm not sure about bidders returning. More like a temporary patch to allow time to organise a serious fund raising. Smell the dilution.

Clearly the erosion of operational margins is a concern but the question is what are the margins of the competitors? AVN was able to price at what appeared to be a lower margin because Ka band could with their systems and software handle more throughput. I suspect that now that they have sorted out their problems they are better placed than most to compete and yet still be profitable whereas in the current environment non Ka band operators will be in real trouble.

"To win volume in certain markets where end-customers are highly price sensitive - such as broadband in Europe - we adjusted our prices during the year. Our products are sold as Mb or managed accounts or as fully integrated projects but we calculate the Price, or Yield, per MHz per month. Yield was in the $1,600-$1,800 band during 2016 (2015: $1,800-$2,000)."

Yield has fallen further in 17 Q1 to $1,500-$1,600 - we see utilisation rates up, but gross turnover down. There is clearly pressure on margins which doesn't fit well with an increase in debt. Its like running up a down escalator. I hope this escalator stops going down, they forecast another 10-15% drop in prices, but this increases risk and pushes the time to breakeven out further.

I've now sold my small holding as a small loss.

Incredible how many gullible investors still believe in this company. No doubt most on here will be leaving out a mince pie & a glass of sherry on Xmas eve. Having said that more chance of santa turning up then avn ever achieving it's forecast numbers

When HYLAS4 is launched early next year it's my thinking we will get more than a £1, that's when the real money will come in for a buy out, the launch is now fully funded gla

Avn has not been the easiest of shares to hold, today's news is the best we could have hopped for with out a takeover, lots to look forward to in the new year with a steady climb up in my opinion, not out the woods yet but there is daylight now gla
