If a sale is on the cards I expect a buyout of around £3.70 a share, giving a Mcap of £500m, it's just speculation of course, but that's my gut feeling

So what do people consider fair value and a decent offer to be?

Big buys of late, we don’t know how much has already be discussed if not yet agreed. We may just be in the process of extracting maximum shareholder value, it could move forward quickly if it’s a matter of making an acceptable formal offer.

What did they used to say about being out over the weekend? Have a good one all.

But touro has to be taken into consideration as it will massively increase the share price

Given where they are with Touro, the timing is interesting if odd (without knowing the reasons). One hopes that any outcome comes post Touro approvals as that would add significantly to the value.

Trafigura will not be involved in any sale that is not linked to the disposal of Matsa. Selling both and making more money trading, which is their real skill, rather than mining makes sense. The Matsa operation in Huelva is not to scale for a company of their reach and is the reason they bought into EMED in the first place. Has become interesting again.

The company will update the market if appropriate and continues to execute on its current business plan, which includes the expansion at Proyecto Riotinto and the development of Proyecto Touro.”

In July this year, the company reported a 29% increase in open pit mineral reserves at Proyecto Riotinto.

As per the update, the Cerro Colorado pit is estimated to contain aggregate open pit proven and probable mineral reserves of 197Mt grading 0.42%Cu.

Three strong shareholders. Why would they sell such a profitable asset with great future prospects mining a metal whose future looks bright? Have they fallen out or will some other outfit make them an offer they can`t refuse?

@ dann 55 high cost profile ?? wtf . No debt (could change with Astor, and would be a good thing). Start up costs much lower . Our efficiency is world class. @ dann WTF WTF are you talking about ? you really know nothing.

@ dann555 think you missed something ... we don't make more than 10m eur or gbp profit (I forget) quarter on terms of repayment to Astor. We just spend more during high copper months . That is why our mine has everything. The irony is because of Astor and this silly impasse, it is to our advantage not to make more than 10m profits. Therefore we spend when we make too much money. Actually means we have invested heck of a lot more in mine than would have got away with pressure to return to shareholders. So when copper price low, Alberto runs more efficiently. We were making copper at much lower cost. Costs run rate only went up with copper price as we ramped investment.

Given its relatively high cost profile, investors in Atalaya Mining (ATYM) could have been forgiven for feeling nervous about the effect of falling copper prices in recent months. But judging by interim numbers, the second half of 2018 might be a lot less painful than expected. Second quarter production leapt 15 per cent on the previous year, while cash costs declined considerably – from $2.27 to $1.88 per pound. A fall in capital expenditure also boosted the net cash position. Still, full-year operating costs have been left unchanged in the $2.15 to $2.30 range, suggesting management may expect cost pressures later this year. Under review.

WHAT MORE CAN ONE SAY BUT- BUY/BUY/BUY

So guys, I wrote a few days ago that a big buyer in the background on AIM has often meant that news would be forthcoming within a couple of weeks. Did our guy know about this might be considered by some to be a reasonable question.
