For anyone, like me, who's not aware of just what anaphylaxis is and does...

generalised flushing of the skin
nettle rash (hives) anywhere on the body
sense of impending doom
swelling of throat and mouth
difficulty in swallowing or speaking
alterations in heart rate
severe asthma
abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting
sudden feeling of weakness (drop in blood pressure)
collapse and unconsciousness
A patient would not necessarily experience all of these symptoms in the same episode.

So, starting to make AZN look a tad better.

Thought that the virtual clearing by EMA might have given this a lift - interesting. Not invested here, directly.

I think vaccine is a sideshow, no profit, but no loss.I think it's still the Alexion bid, they paid to much, won't conclude until second half of the year.

Under-30s offered alternative to AstraZeneca jab

Under-30s are to be offered an alternative Covid jab to the AstraZeneca vaccine due to mounting evidence linking it to rare blood clots, the UK's vaccine advisory body says.

A review by the drugs regulator MHRA found by the end of March 79 people in the UK suffered rare blood clots after vaccination - 19 of whom died.

The regulator said this was not proof the jab had caused the clots.

But it said the link was getting firmer.

The regulator said the side-effects were extremely rare and the vaccine's effectiveness was proven.

It said it meant the benefits of taking the vaccine were still very favourable for the vast majority.

But they conceded it was more finely balanced for younger people because the risk from Covid was so much lower.

Covid cluster found among 11 vaccinated pensioners in French care home
Vaccinated people can still catch and transmit the virus a French health authority has warned

6 April 2021
Vaccinated people should continue to use barrier measures to protect themselves and others
By Joanna York

Eleven residents in an elderly care home in east France have tested positive for Covid-19 after most of them had been vaccinated against the virus.

None of the 11 is seriously ill but three have been hospitalised as a precaution as they have other illnesses.

This comes as the Grand Est regional health authority (ARS) has said that vaccinated people can still catch the virus, and transmit it to others.

Fred, multiple new variants cropping up daily as you are aware.

Significant if more virulent than an existing dominant strain.
as with P1 in Brazil. Also problematic if they evade vaccines and lead to
mass reinfections - a worst case outcome

SA and P1 cases have been identified in the UK but do not seem to be gaining
traction, at least for now. News from Canada may be more concerning with reports of 400 P1 cases. Helpful to know if some of those individuals are becoming reinfected. Hopefully not the case.
