05/9/2018 10:31 | If the trade war continues the demand for copper will be postponed, possibly for years imho. The world will go into recession and copper warehouse won't be an issue anymore. | charles clore
05/9/2018 10:05 | Jailbird - Improved trade relations between the US and China will certainly help but mostly the ever looming threat of a huge copper market deficit developing over the next 5 years together with the current near decade low warehouse stock levels will almost certainly be the key catalyst to drive pricing back up. Its why virtually no copper miner is interested in selling its producing assets today - they believe/know the valuation will be much higher in a few years time. | mount teide
05/9/2018 09:57 | Bob Woodward's book is s not worrying if any of it is true .Wish some would pull the plug of Chinese trade war , it is getting out of hand | jailbird
05/9/2018 09:44 | He may be jailbird but he has a lot of support with the working class Americans and if he can broker a better deal for the US he will be seen as a hero. | mrpiggy
05/9/2018 09:41 | MrPYou are probably right thereWe know Trump is crackers Sometimes ppl think there some sense in his sanity .. but I am not sure .. it is an ego trip for him | jailbird
05/9/2018 09:34 | Without a doubt in my mind jailbird the turnaround in metal prices will come when Trump and Xi come to a trade agreement but as this link shows they are poles apart so I don’t expect a turnaround this year. | mrpiggy
05/9/2018 09:19 | Ok interesting ... metals are bring manipulated ... Only recently pullbacks were being bought up again because of demand/ supply story and wider deficits .These cannot be manipulated forever We know EV will pressure these niche metals for batteries So MT what do you think will cause the turnaround in metal prices ? | jailbird
05/9/2018 09:08 | Looking as if we could get into the cloud in the next few days. Promising chart. hxxp://www.ichimokut C 10.125 Bull Kijun Sen Cross Weak | haydock
05/9/2018 09:04 | The dollar index averaged well above the current level for the overwhelming majority of the period from when the industrial metals bottomed in Feb 2016 until today - so the current 'strong dollar' explanation is not really supported by fact. As evidenced by the fact that oil which is also traded in dollars is currently at a 4-5 year high! This is metal market manipulation by Chinese and other players who continue to import in record quantities - the fact the oil market is much larger preventing the Chinese from manipulating it, is why we hear them continually bleating about 'high' oil prices. Brent averaged $95 between 2008 and 2016 and $82 between 2008 and 2018, so today's $78 is still well below the level oil has averaged over most of the last decade! | mount teide
05/9/2018 08:46 | SOLG and ARS are Definately the places to be for the big boys to take stakes Imho....today looks to be the start | goldrush
05/9/2018 08:43 | Below is the detailed copper chart. With any luck, the green line will provide support here at $23.9175 otherwise we can expect further falls to the main support at $22. jailbird is correct to point out that the weakness in metals reflects the strength in the dollar. Can we expect that to change? | horneblower

04/9/2018 23:11 | Hard to understand why the copper price is dropping again, with a significant deficit looming....The madness of markets! | cyberbub
04/9/2018 19:29 | These 2/3% rises are fine by me! Nice little rises in my portfolio for a change! | markth126
04/9/2018 17:13 | Exciting times, quite happy for it to tick up by 2-3% each day, hope the momentum upwards continues tomorrow. | arhaych
04/9/2018 17:07 | I cant speak for everyone else but Im delighted with todays share price rise. Note to self...... NEVER EVER complain about Asiamet being a two bob stock again because as recent history has shown it could be worse.... much much worse. On that note Im going to celebrate with a trough full of pig nuts. | mrpiggy
04/9/2018 15:58 | The copper price looks as low as it has been in the eighteen months up to today. However, the share price is looking pretty jumpy. In a statement, Dr. Hans Zarkov of NASA said, "This unprecedented share-price movement is no cause for alarm." | arf dysg

04/9/2018 15:06 | I have physical stock in ISA and trading position in spread bet account. All good tax free fun. To me it makes sense to be a short term trader and long term investor at this stage of development but what do I know! Each to their own and good luck all however you decide to maximise on this opportunity | jackbal
04/9/2018 14:53 | fair enough MT. I've only been in for a few months. I've not yet decided where my end point will be | bmcb5
04/9/2018 14:43 | bmc - many successful long term commodity market recovery phase investors use share price pullbacks to average up as the investment case strengthens - that requires keeping a close eye on the share-price and the sentiment expressed on BB's since most are frequented by short term traders who generally act as a reliable barometer as to when another pullback/averaging up opportunity is presenting itself. | mount teide
04/9/2018 14:21 | Resistance is futile, Charles | mr roper
04/9/2018 14:16 | Thanks CC - sorry i missed that (skipped hundreds of posts after being out of town for a week) MT - I suspect that anybody who is genuinely only interested in 2021/2, won't be reading this BB on a daily basis. We're all here to spot opportunities, no? | bmcb5 |
