21/2/2018 08:46 | Non. It's not the mm's. What happened was... The closing price is defined as the result of the Auction at 1635hrs. Last night the "uncrossing price" was, for whatever reason, done at 10.5p where the mid price had been 10.05p all afternoon. The mid price is still 10.05p but in a thin market the mid price is a slippery concept. So we inexplicably ended up 4.25% on the close last night and now we are down 4.25% this morning despite nothing actually happening to the bid/offer. It's nothing to do with the market makers. I's just a quirk of the system that particularly affects lightly traded shares. | horneblower

20/2/2018 17:28 | haydock, I found this on google. There was nothing else in the last couple of years. (Friday 16th of February 2018) "Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is preparing for a London court battle with two other billionaire Russian oligarchs over control of Russia’s biggest mining company. "Abramovich is being taken to court by Oleg Deripaska to prevent the Chelsea owner from selling his minority stake in mining firm Norilsk Nickel (Nornickel) to Deripaska’s rival Vladimir Potanin." | arf dysg

20/2/2018 14:24 | Clearly not all of the buys are buys - the MMs are just messing around with a false wide spread. The real spread is about 9.90 - 10.05. | cyberbub
20/2/2018 14:02 | Mr R - last chance entry point for the big boys so the price has to be dropped for a while I guess. | charles clore

19/2/2018 22:59 | Am not trying to be holier than thou BTW. | cyberbub
19/2/2018 22:59 | I agree. I would be horrified to see widespread mining of the deep sea bed. Unfortunately money talks, and weird sea creatures don't have any money :-( The fact that these weird sea creatures may be critical parts of our food chain is completely irrelevant...I am also troubled by the environmental impact of on-land mining, but I know that firstly that impact is much better understood and therefore can be effectively regulated, and that land restoration processes are always now a strong requirement on mining companies. This is for well-run companies in relatively responsible countries of course. I would never invest in cowboy outfits which cause reckless environmental and social devastation. | cyberbub
19/2/2018 21:14 | Cyberbub, Andrew Bloodworth gave a lecture at the Geological Society last week, 14th Feb. The issue of deep sea mining for cobalt was part of the lecture and Andrew described how the political issue of ownership of the resources remains unsolved after decades. Also of issue is the diversity of sea life that lives in the zones where these minerals are found. Interesting lecture... | minder5 |
