hope you are all well - well after working for this company up until 1999 and the subsequent fall off to 3p and then the recovery, (of which i bought NO shares, but tipped it out to many in the early 2000's), I have gone Short of AHT - the numbers presented last were spectacular, but noticed they had ramped up debt a bit, The debtors book has risen and i can see many companies failing as we see the wrath of Covid hit the economy hard over the next half year.

Not a big short, but short at 2798.

best wishes all.

Yesterdays volume was high in comparison to the price range which together with the continued price action around 2700 suggests it has become a day trading share.

Good day fenners

It will be interesting to see if they resume the buybacks when some form of normality returns.

Someone on Bloomberg just said - companies that come through this pandemic with cash , can grow through value enhancing acquisitions.

ie the point I made a while ago, if they had preserved the cash spent on buybacks before , it may well find a better home soon.

Still want bigger % of the earnings as divis though!

Good day Disco

The bulls do not want to give up 2700. They have invested a lot to get it there in their effort to take it on to new highs. As I posted previously it's 'the virus' that's the likely spoiler. I suspect that providing the virus situation does not deteriorate too badly the FED will ride to the rescue and 'normal service' will resume.

Those of a sterner stuff putting discretion before valour.

2700 under test, that's one off my list. Question is will it drop to support at 2600? To be decided when the US Markets close later.

Probably the only thing which will negate FED money is a sizeable increase in numbers contracting the virus.

Good day Disco

Such is the trading/investing life. Some you win; hopefully; and some you don't.

A quick 'ping' up to 2800 at the open and then dropped it like a hot potato. Now we will see if there are those who are made of sterner stuff, have held and will now attempt to take it above 2800 and on towards 2900.

Exciting isn't it!

A low volume day yesterday but still attempted to break above 2800 which suggests few sellers.

I'm pondering a few aspects : test of 2700,support at 2600 and gap at 2400. I'm also looking at the spike up to 2879 and thinking that's where it's heading for.

A lot to consider but it seems that whatever is thrown at the market it continues to spring back.

The share price held above 2700 at the close with above average volume. Following the close US Indices fell following FED Officials concerns and virus concerns.

Unless the US Indices Futures pull back up I would expect the share price to test 2700.

According to BS 6465-1 every construction site should have one toilet per seven people over a 40 hour working week.I'm not sure what BS stands for.

Nearest car park Covid testing centre, has a mass of "A-plant " on hire. portable offices , toilets , barriers , signs etc.
I reckon it could cost about £10k a week in hire costs.
If that set up is repeated all around the country......

On second thoughts its coming out of NHS budgets with an NHS procurement team.....
..... make that £100k a week.

With Mr Drabble taking over as Chairman at DS Smith from September, are they now worth serious consideration for investment?
Or am I putting too much importance on a Chairman?

A good move up to-day so far. It's been trying to close above 2700 since the gap up from 2400. The volume will be interesting.

Good day Disco

Good luck with the rebalancing and trimming.

As for the "chuffing gaps" that's a chunky one down to 2400 but it doesn't appear ready to be filled just yet.

Strong volume yesterday and the bulls have held the share price above 2600 which I suspect they will aim to be the new support level.

No problem.Must confess I sold some of my holding here in March (panicked a bit) and the rest this morning. Thought I'd hedge by putting a small short on leading up to results but should have known better with AHT!.First bought at £3.90 and kept averaging up to £11 so more than happy (this was my first multibag). This is an excellent business and I've only sold because I'm trying to rebalance my portfolio and trim cyclicals. I may buy again at some point.Just wanted to say thanks for all the regular posters on here, it's an amazing thread compared to the majority on this site, whether long, short or no position everyone is treated fairly and with respect. Hopefully you won't mind me popping in every now and again as AHT and learning from you guys has been a wonderful experience.Mind those chuffing gaps!.
