So far a 74 point retrace from the close on 3/7 to to-days close. If Mr Powell indicates a rate drop that may halt the retrace but I suspect there is more to come.

A drop to 2200 is a strong probability and I would not rule out continuing to 2100.

I am very tempted to short but will wait to see the reaction to whatever Mr Powell says.

Another small tranche sold this morning at 2322p, reducing my holding by 12% overall since June.

AHT's price has risen +470p since 3rd June's 1852p, so for me, personally, time to bank some more profits and reduce risk a little more.

Talking of GAW, bought some Aug 2017 for £16.78 and sold June 2018 for just over £30.......thought they had peaked!, doh.

Talking of £33 , I was going to buy some Games Workshop at £4 but they rose about 50p on the day I decided to....
and then they didn't stop so I didn't buy thinking they would drop back a bit ...
reached £51 today.....

Moving on, Ashtead continues to surprise on the upside, although the diminishing volumes perhaps indicate that without further stimulation we may be nearing an inflection point.

Still inclined to sell a few more if momentum carries us a little further, but not just yet...

Let's just remember, it fooled both of us for a short while! Nevertheless I think it was probably one of those unintended consequences caused by 'the computer guys' (beard, sandals,socially awkward, you know the type!)

jimohno probably remembers the original rights issue for £5bn in 2001, perhaps the writing was on the wall even then for BT holders?

I suppose when there is a lack of Trump Tweets to report the DM has to scour the archives and resurrect something old as new.

Up 30 to-day but volume surprising low at 956,165. I presume approx 100,000 were buyback.
Friday is NFP which may be all that is required to take it to 2400.

Far from jumping off a ledge holders would be euphoric with 522.5!!. If any have immediately ordered their RR/Bentley/Mclaren, etc and now find you have posted fake news they may be inclined to send in 'The Management'.

Perhaps best lay low for a while and plead temporary insanity.

Re BT: that share price puzzled me too (possibly 522.5p ?), so although the DM page was dated 3rd Jul 2019, on further investigation I came to the conclusion it might be inaccurate, or old news.

I note that Sir Iain Vallance, the Chairman mentioned left BT in 2001

In addition I found the following which may be relevant:

I notice in the daily mail article they report the closing share price as 5221/2. Apart from the '5' The high was 197.42, the low 195 and the close 197. What am I missing?

Good day jim

I have been looking at BT. history which is not straight forward in terms of the three offers which were in instalments plus there appears to have been a split.

My comments are restricted to the current situation and are purely chart based. The current level of 200 is a support/resistance zone below which it has recently dipped. On the daily chart it is still in a down trend ie. has failed to make a higher high but has avoided dropping below 190 for the second time.

Until it makes a higher high (moves above 210) and holds the rise there is the probability it will drop further. A close below 190 means 175 and maybe 150.

Sorry I can't be more positive, I just call it as I see it.

Bracke, the chart and comments re BT were very interesting thank you. Buy and hold has served me pretty well over many years. But BT is my biggest mistake having held since privatisation! Having worked for them my 'soft spot' has caused me to stick with them.
Do you see any chance of a revival in the chart?
