"Ahhh I see, so the dip in price down to the <>1607 level was part of the masterplan? lol!" ==================================================================================== There's no need to be cruel. It was an unforeseen event. You let me off lightly. My major error was failing to buy more at 1607! It still irks me.

Good day ian "not withstanding that the 'long term' bit must have been rather involuntary :-)" ================================================================================= I wasn't expecting to buy and sell in a short time period. I would have been happy to have held longer if the runes were in favour. "I do hope Mater has not gone short AHT!" ========================================= Mater only holds paper, none of this derivative nonsense for her. I on the other hand might well have considered a short but for the margin required by the ESMA rules.

I notice that URI is currently up 9.26% at 138.88 at the opening. I do hope Mater has not gone short AHT!

Good day bracke, Congratulations on exiting 'Maters' long term AHT hold at a profit, not withstanding that the 'long term' bit must have been rather involuntary :-) Thanks also for the rather colourful graph. In view of the progress we have made over recent weeks I wouldn't be surprised if AHT paused, or even managed a modest retrace whilst it catches its breath, but I am not minded to take any profits for the time being. Finally I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments about discourteous posts, not the first time they have been visited upon us.

Morning DD Don't Let the stalker drive you underground. Since I gave Donald the handle of Flatulent Duck, I've had two CIA men parked outside the house. Better than a private security service. Cheers

DD It would be a shame if you stopped posting, I am sure that if necessary, posters here will just use the filter button if other posts offend them. :-)

A major part of A Plants strategy has been acquisitions from the very beginning.

bracke is very quiet this morning, I imagine his finger is hovering over the sell button, so that he can quit the field with honour? However this may have still further to run (IMHO), up to our full year's results on 18th June... decisions, decisions! :-)

Good point Riley, and I believe that AHT have found that it takes a little while until new acquisitions are fully bedded in, and making their full contribution

If they hadn't made the acquisitions guess who might have. They'll have been sat in the board room saying if we don't they will.

DD actually I am not that struck on URI's results Rent up by 23% is due to acquisitions which have added more debt and interest charges. As the Yanks tend to do there is a lot of explaining everything bad as down to acquisitions and therefore "pro-forma" (adjusted ) figures. When we look at EPS year over year its gone up 4c to $2.19 And that has only happened due to share buybacks as net profit is down. Its down by $8m after including $6m more of restructuring charges and a lower tax rate. So what was the point of the acquisitions ? No doubt they expect in years to come to show increased profitability from Baker Corp and Vander but since they are given as the reason why the figures are not better.... these results for me are not stella. We shall see in years to come whether those acquisitions have worked.

URI Q1Rental Revenue up lfl by 23% and eps 15% (Beating forecasts by 9%).United Rentals is about to enter its "busy season with the strongest service offering in our history, given the strategic investments we've made across our business, including acquisitions, to best support our customers," the company said in a statement. Yep, it's sad, very sad. £89 for someone to just stalk another poster in order to give a thumbs down. The crazy thing is that within minutes of me posting, no matter what time of day, they appear, so they must be spending all their time searching my to see where I've posted........they need professional help IMO.Anyway, spent enough time on these saddos so will just ignore from now on.All the best.

the sad thing is that you have to be a paying subscriber for the privilege of giving a 'thumbs down'
