29/11/2018 08:38 | Both H&E and URI have been going down - until yesterday - so there is read across rather than Drabble retiring. | fenners66
29/11/2018 07:29 | And we have our reason for this weeks sell off, Drabble retires. Horgan taking over is the obvious choice and shows good succession planning, the notice and transition period shows good planning in a very well run company. | hatfullofsky
28/11/2018 22:14 | Posts around 52083 is what I'm talking about, shorts closing around 770, with around 20m shares shorted. One post there actually says, there you go right on cue 770, shorts closing. Bracke was giving daily shorting figures I bought in at 9 watched them climb to 12 and fall back below 8. Didn't think I'd timed it right at the time. Given these fell below £1 from £2.50 when I'd bought into them previously makes you aware things can change rapidly. I bought in around £1, they rose to £2.45. I wake up one morning they have dropped to £1.70, a fund has dumped a zillion shares for no reason. The reason becomes apparent a week later, a sister company to that fund is handling a share issue for a takeover by Ashtead, a 5:1 issue at £1.10. All profits wiped out in days, price hits £1. It happens This is the third time I've held these shares when they have fallen back A LOT | charker
28/11/2018 20:56 | United Rentals have their analyst day 11 December too! | smcni1968
28/11/2018 19:06 | Hi DD, Kudos to bracke, his post caused me to look a little bit deeper. In the meantime, the Dow is now 500+ and URI is up 4% at present ... surely this should steady the ship tomorrow? | ianwwwhite
28/11/2018 18:54 | Hi IanYou beat me to it, this has never fallen from £15 to £7.70.DD | discodave4
28/11/2018 18:44 | Good day bracke, Interesting times as always! I note fenners is tilting at windmills elsewhere at present, so I thought it safe to break cover :-) Now back to sloth mode.... | ianwwwhite
28/11/2018 18:40 | Charker If you are referring to the fall from <>1200 (May 2015) to <> 790 (Mar 2016), the subsequent recovery was pretty impressive too. It reached <> 1720 by Feb 2017. These figures from my records are approximate, but indicative of AHT's resilience. | ianwwwhite
28/11/2018 18:37 | Good day ian I hadn't noticed the post number. It's the whole numbers I go for. Yes gaps filled. Mr Powell will be Mr Trumps friend, how long that will last is another matter. If the US market doesn't sell of before the close the share price is likely to rise tomorrow but it will require just over 4% to move back to 1800. | bracke
28/11/2018 18:35 | Ok, £12 to £7.60 in 4 weeks, still a major % fall, you can see that clearly enough. A guy came on here and predicted it would fall to £7.60 when it was near £11 and it did within a few pence. Uncanny | charker
28/11/2018 18:27 | Hi bracke Looks like rHatton beat you to 56065 of 56065! In the meantime, am I right in thinking that two recent gaps were closed over the last few days? | ianwwwhite
28/11/2018 18:20 | URI up 3% tonight | rhatton
28/11/2018 18:07 | Shorting attack? We’re the markers just really bad back in the beginning of 16? | rhatton
28/11/2018 18:04 | This reminds me of that shorting attack when it fell from £15 to £7.70 in no time at all. When this falls it falls like a stone. £24 seems a long way away now. | charker
28/11/2018 17:39 | Markets moving up across the pond after the fed speak. | rhatton
28/11/2018 17:31 | I was hoping for a rise into the update, we only have 8 trading days before it. Unfortunately it's on the same day as the Brexit Parliament Vote and with Project Fear in overdrive and positives could be swept away if there is a Rejection. They should bring the update forward by a day. | hatfullofsky
28/11/2018 16:44 | Just no positive momentum here really bar to the downside at the moment. Looks like a standard downtrend so far. | rhatton
28/11/2018 16:35 | For a moment I thought we were recovering, then the fall yesterday and today, standard volatility or something more serious. Any views on the movement today ? | hatfullofsky
26/11/2018 18:58 | No problem Ian, thought it was interesting as well. All the best. | discodave4
26/11/2018 10:19 | DD - thanks, very interesting article. It prompted me to look back over AHTs dividend record (table shows pence per share): An impressively progressive dividend policy, particularly when you remember you could have bought AHT's shares at around 85p at the start of 2010. Does show the advantages of a 'buy and hold' strategy for this share, particularly in an ISA. Interim results due 11th Dec, (Edit: see RNS 27/11/18 above) and I am expecting to see the usual uplift in the Interim div. | ianwwwhite
25/11/2018 21:32 | Nice to see AHT at the top of at least one table, ten year dividend and income growth.HTTPS://www.t | discodave4
20/11/2018 16:40 | They may well be rescuer but if the market is in major negative mode it will not do a lot for the share price There is also market expectations. As we saw previously. If the results are good but do not meet what the market expected they get 'stroppy'. If I remember correctly it's what started the rot with the share price | bracke
20/11/2018 15:47 | results will be outstanding Bracke - i have no doubt | rescuer
20/11/2018 15:27 | Good day rescuer I trust you are well. The FAANG stocks are taking a pasting and as we know once the market takes fright they all go. They'll get a grip soon but what sort of Santa Rally we get is another matter. | bracke |
