03/3/2021 13:27 | SP going to catch up with that capital allowances example ? Good job , compared to the USA and Canada the UK is "almost an irrelevance" huh? | fenners66
03/3/2021 13:25 | Seems to be giving money everywhere.... and holding personal allowances where they are... so is he hoping for a massive increase in inflation to pay for it? | fenners66
03/3/2021 13:24 | Chancellor just announced the Superdeduction for capital spend Basically 130% capital allowances He even used the example of a construction company spending £10m on new equipment. So do you hire for 100% deduction or buy for 130% ? looks like selling off the UK business may have more credibility today...... | fenners66
03/3/2021 11:21 | I note the share price made another dash for 4100. Just getting in practice for when the 1.9 Billion stimulus is passed. | bracke
03/3/2021 10:48 | That took me a couple of reads before I deciphered what you were complaining about in the latter part of your comment there. As for irrelevance - I did say "almost an irrelevance compared to the US and Canadian business" As for selling the UK off , my guess is it's more likely now than 20 years ago. If the next CEO is American ..... | fenners66
02/3/2021 22:06 | aside from the fact that the UK business is almost an irrelevance compared to the US and Canadian business You can see that eventually the UK business may be sold off and the US business floated in New York I hope not, but.... | fenners66
02/3/2021 17:25 | The DoH revenues may not be there next year. However, the rest of the economy - including construction - which was shut down or massively reduced for a large part of last year will be back. Any DoH work may not have created a big profit, but it did part-fill what would have been a very large UK hole in UK revenues. Don't understand why you see the (low margin) DoH work as a problem that mitigated a very big UK problem? | bmel
02/3/2021 16:51 | Anybody concerned that the UK business has added £79m of revenue in the 9 months but incurred an extra £80m of costs! The Dept of health revenues are 25% of total so £111m for the nine months and these are not likely to be there next year - all of that lost revenue needs to be recovered in the core business to stand still - looks to me like they have got very excited about the Covid opportunities but for all their efforts they have not made any money out of it probably due to poor cost control | speedybob1
02/3/2021 16:01 | Quite happy with todays outcome,Ashtead decent div and share back to normal. Also Taylor Wimpey reinstate a modest div in May and just bought some more Galliford Try in anticipation of thursdays results. | riley109
02/3/2021 13:37 | fenners Indeed we keep winners. The problem is deciding when they have turned into if not losers then no longer winners. How will you decide? "As for PET I can't believe you asked...." ==================== LOL! I couldn't resist it. | bracke
02/3/2021 11:53 | Dividends = income Selling AHT shares to substitute over the last few years would have been .... er.... counter productive... We keep winners don't we? As for PET I can't believe you asked.... | fenners66
02/3/2021 11:43 | Good day fenners There you go again with the dividends. What is it with you and dividends? Never mind the dividend look at the share price All you have to do is sell a few of your enormous shareholding and you can make up for the dividend. That was a nasty drop on opening, most uncalled for. I'm thinking{always dangerous} that once Mr Biden gets the $1.9 Trillion stimulus approved it maybe the impetus to push the share price above 4100. Just think yourself fortunate that you don't have any PET shares. You don't do you? | bracke
02/3/2021 11:12 | Looking at it that is a huge chunk paid off the debt. I know the Capex plan says that they are going to spend next year rather than pay off debt (weighted average cost 4%) but there is what £130m a year of interest cost to be potentially saved if they carry on paying it down. Just reducing interest and diverting the post tax cost to additional dividends would be nice. | fenners66
02/3/2021 08:55 | Bouncing back already. Strong performance, great fundamentals and outstanding market opportunities in the USA. What is not to like in AHT? | bmel
02/3/2021 08:34 | Fenners, Lol! Perhaps the analysts briefing later this morning will inject more positivity.. | perfido
02/3/2021 08:16 | Nearly posted last night , its often better to travel with AHT than arrive on results day. What were the sellers expecting? Record free cash flow helps.... | fenners66
02/3/2021 07:47 | Strong market outperformance -- Revenue down 2%(1) ; rental revenue down 3%(1) -- Operating profit of GBP871m (2020: GBP1,069m) -- Pre-tax profit(2) of GBP763m (2020: GBP947m) -- Earnings per share(2) of 127.2p (2020: 154.3p) -- Record free cash flow of GBP1,059m (2020: GBP363m) -- Net debt to EBITDA leverage(1,3) of 1.6 times (2020: 1.9 times) -- Expect full-year results ahead of our previous expectations | perfido
02/3/2021 07:42 | At first glance, Q3. results look stonkingly good in the circumstances! (See RNS above) | perfido
01/3/2021 16:46 | RNS 23/02/21: Ashtead Group plc announces that its third quarter results for the period ended 31st January 2021 will be announced on 2nd March 2021. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Judging by todays price action, looks like expectations are high... | perfido
01/3/2021 10:35 | An early start for the cavalry to catch the infidel shorters off guard pushing them back off 3900. Shorters will make a stand at 4000. | bracke
01/3/2021 08:49 | Speedy hire saying UK business above expectations and profits will be too. | fenners66
28/2/2021 12:47 | The more observant will have noticed that there is a gap to fill at 3766. There is also another at 2889 but we will not talk about that. | bracke
26/2/2021 18:41 | That didn't go to plan. The cavalry were too used to overcoming all before them are were overly confident. The nasty shorters kicked their rear ends and sent them packing. The cavalry were forced into a retreat to lick their wounds and plan their next attack. They now have to decide whether to dig in at 3800 or attempt another charge at 3900. Once again another buying opportunity at a not to be repeated share price | bracke |
