18/6/2019 17:22 | Memo to oneself: AHT never does what you think so do the opposite!.Oh well, cash from sale yesterday will go into ISA and then what to buy?, mmm. | discodave4
18/6/2019 16:48 | Closed well above 2000 and looking to take 2100. Will the FED assist tomorrow. | bracke
18/6/2019 15:42 | Good day ian "Just wondering how EG's short is going, 100p+, he must have got one on?" ==================== If the above refers to me no need to wonder. I have no short. The market is in full flow to the upside with the Mr Draghi suggesting more stimulus, the prospect of FED rate cut and Mr Trump meeting Mr Xi hopefully to reach tariff agreement. Interesting to note Mr Trump's ire at Euro/Dollar fall which he says benefits EU trade to the detriment of US trade.......time to increase tariffs on those pesky Europeans. | bracke
18/6/2019 15:08 | ..... Just wondering how EG's short is going, 100p+, he must have got one on? URI UP 4.8% presently too! | ianwwwhite
18/6/2019 14:34 | Thanks glawslain, an interesting read. AHT results also attracted favourable mention on the Ian King section of the lunchtime Sky News broadcast. (He interviewed Geoff Drabble not so long ago). | ianwwwhite

18/6/2019 14:06 | Thank for the link DD I'll take a look. The 'mar bar' prize had been used in similar competitions in the past, but the idea was originally filched from another thread. The last winner here I believe was JimiHendrix, who declined to accept it... Edit: JimiHendrix was the nom de guerre of a well respected one time poster on the AHT thread | ianwwwhite
18/6/2019 13:24 | Thanks Ian.Remember the mars bar / film star but can't remember what the competition was all about. The presentation slides for today has some useful additional data: Https://www.ashtead- | discodave4
18/6/2019 13:07 | Just got in to find AHT has done it again, a superb set of results. Congratulations to bracke and DD on their winning dividend forecasts, and to runner up fenners for a good try. As for prizes that is it, acclaim from your fellow posters. I think the 'mars bar to share with the film star of your choice' prize was from an earlier competition, sorry you wil have to find your own mars bars :-) As an aside, having won twice, bracke must be knocking on the door of the Ashtead Hall of Fame, if he manages three wins in succession? . | ianwwwhite
18/6/2019 11:33 | thank you Dave - great bloke Geoff, hope he has a superb retirement. | rescuer

18/6/2019 11:22 | Hope so.Which half of the Mars bar prize do you want? | discodave4
18/6/2019 11:20 | Price action suggests the market thinks the results are ok but nothing special. Buyers have taken the share price above 2000 as expected but can they keep it there? | bracke
18/6/2019 11:19 | Morning All, Good results. Well done Brendan and team. Geoff. was made a non exec. for Ferguson PLC a little while back. I wish him luck . Cheers | 2flatpack
18/6/2019 10:14 | From RNS 1st May:"Further to the announcement of 29 November 2018 Ashtead confirms that Brendan Horgan has today succeeded Geoff Drabble as Chief Executive. Geoff has stepped down from the Board and will retire from the Group on 30 November 2019." | discodave4
18/6/2019 10:13 | another set of amazing results, well done Team AHT - not been keeping tabs on Ashtead for a while, Asif is still working mega hard for A Plant and all is well. Is Geoff Dabble still involved or has he retired - I know hos retirement was soon, as a couple of my friends were invited to the dinner. hope you are all well and making money | rescuer
18/6/2019 09:03 | Be nice to see this close above £20. | discodave4
18/6/2019 08:31 | Solid results IMO.eps on forecast at 174p which puts this on a ridiculously low PE of 11, PEG 0.4.Target IMO £26Nice dividend! :) | discodave4
18/6/2019 07:27 | "Net financing costs increased to GBP153m (2018: GBP110m) reflecting a higher average interest rate and higher average debt levels. " I don't recall a re-financing talking about higher interest rates, so I have to assume that this is about extending credit lines into a higher average rate by taking on more debt at the higher end. We know they spent £675m on buybacks which would not be in the debt now. "Long-term borrowings .................... So that is up £1027m The final dividend alone is costing about £167m Finance costs £153m | fenners66
18/6/2019 07:14 | 33.5p it is ! Well done DD and bracke !! | fenners66
18/6/2019 00:32 | DD, Lol! | ianwwwhite
