As AMCO is effectively controlled by AMCO Investments and the Directors through their shareholdings in excess of 60%, AMCO is never going to achieve the Market Cap. that its performance warrents until this control is much diluted. It would seem therefore that the directors are seeking to unlock the latent value through some form of corporate activity. If the directors are able to benefit ,then shareholders should also see added value if they take a lead from the management. In the meantime, the only way the shareholders can benefit from AMCOs excellent performance is through a generous dividend policy ,which is now in place.

Quietly moving forward - bit like this thread....

LONDON (AFX) - Construction group Amco PLC saw its full year results improve
"substantially", helped by the performance of structural steel, contracting,
property development and plastic. The experienced "modest" losses on Dosco
underground equipment.
Pretax profit in the year to Dec 31 came in at 7 mln stg against 3 mln, the
earnings per share was 42.7 pence compared with 23 pence while the dividend is
to be 11 pence.
The group intends to make an additional contribution of 1.4 mln stg to the
pension fund, and said is positive about its prospects for 2006 but expects
reduced profits from contracting activities due to the closure of UK coal, and
added Dosco operates in a "very difficult market" and is hoping for a profit.

This stock has that rare combination of growth + value. ARP is currently trading at a low price to sales ratio (well below 1) also its earnings multiple is still low. ROCE at around 27% and relative price strength over the last year....phenomenal!

This stock has almost been my solitary holding over the last 18 months. Its outperformed other stocks of about the same market capitalisation with similar fundamentals to those stated above. Anyone out there with views on this outperformance? My hunch is that its because Amco's business includes (that magic word!)........MINING services.

Results look OK, although much of the profit seems to be derived from some accounting fiddle to do with the pension fund. If anyone understands what is going on here, I'd appreciate an explanation. The lack of a dividend is disappointing, especially as there is net cash on the balance sheet.

Not quite, arp made £1.15 million, split between 11,816,458 shares, art made £1.1 million, split between 288,332,705 shares.

Yes, you've got the point, though I doubt any buyers will come in untill somebody tips it, lol. I'm holding for a return to the 5p divi in eighteen months time, (with a bit of luck)

Check out Tolent, (tlt), same office, same figures, pays a divi, 128p/130p.
