"In the beginning of 2011, as part of the development of the Field by the Investors, two new wells (well PG-10 and well PG-11A, together, the Wells) were drilled.

Afterwards, low-volume hydraulic stimulation was performed at the deepest layers of the Wells, and test production of gas commenced thereafter.

No preliminary screening assessment or environmental impact assessment (EIA) needed
to be carried out, as both the amount of gas expected to be produced by the Wells and the area of gas production were significantly below the thresholds stipulated by Slovenian law above which an EIA would be required.

In order to maintain the levels of gas produced, in 2017 it became necessary to carry out another round of low-volume hydraulic stimulation of the Wells.

Under Slovenian law, no preliminary screening assessment nor any EIA were required to do so.

However, in an abundance of caution on 10 May 2017 Geoenergo made an application for a preliminary screening assessment."

i.e. 200 cubic metres annually !

So "low-volume hydraulic stimulation" involves using less water than the annual consumption for FIVE average houses !

Extract from letter (AST to Slovenia) :-

"As you may be aware, low-volume hydraulic stimulation is a process used to increase the production of gas wells, whereby water is injected into the soil substrata in order to stimulate the gas production.

Low-volume hydraulic stimulation involves the injection into a well of less than 1,000 m3 of water per fracturing stage or less than 10,000 m3 of water during the entire process.

It is distinct from high volume hydraulic simulation, which involves the injection of water above these volumes."

International Arbitration (ICC) takes a minimum of 10 months so if AST get their finger out we'll have a decision by January 2022.

Last spring :-

"Ascent Resources Plc (LON: AST) the onshore European and Caribbean / Hispanic American oil and gas company, is pleased to announce it has received a Letter of Intent for up to Euro 3M of potential litigation funding in Slovenia.

Further to the announcements on 14 June 2019 and 16 July 2019 regarding potential legal claims for damages against the Republic of Slovenia , the Company announces it has received a non-binding letter of intent ("LOI") from a specialist litigation funding partner.

The LOI, should it be countersigned by the Company and subject to certain conditions, provides the Company with up to Euro 3 million of funding for a legal claim in Slovenia on a non-recourse basis (meaning it would not be repayable by the company in the event of a failed legal claim) with an element of gain share by the funder. This is expected to cover all the costs of pursuing a claim.

The LOI is conditional on a period of Due Diligence and on the completion of execution documents.

Further details on the funding will be provided should the Company decide to countersign the LOI.

As announced on 24 March 2020 the Company notes the election of a new government in Slovenia, where its principal current asset, the Petišovci gas field, is located.

The newly appointed Board is in the process of reviewing the Company's asset in Slovenia, and in particular the Company's positioning with its joint venture partners and stakeholders in country."

What they are saying re Market Cap is that the Slovenians through underhand dealings could trash the share price and buy up a big part of the company for peanuts and vote out any claim or trash the company, whilst it's at 12m or less, why pay out £120 million if AST won any case.

I think the chance that AST win in court is high but may AST will not last that long.
claim compensation as nothing to do with market cap and i can see this going to one of no win no fee company if the case has a merit
open on Monday will be hard to swallow

The Slovenian Government won't be able to delay the Arbitration Court or else they will be paying penalties.
