It won't fly at the current nickel price. In addition they are mining less tonnes and at lower grade than the criteria specified in the initial prospectus.
The moronic decision to delay the shaft deepening means that they are going to run out of access to high grade ore very shortly if they haven't already. Until the shaft (and underground development) are in place you can forget about smelting. What we need to know is how long it will take to get the shaft completed and how much it's going to cost, as they have no money. Getting the shaft tied in will also mean a period of no production.
BNC is in big trouble and the silence is deafening. This quarters results will be interesting as they just about broke even in the last reported.
My view from day 1 is that the smelter should never have been started and is a complete white elephant.
And I'm basing that on my own personal experience at BNC in the old AAC days

Zani is worth nowhere near that. Most of the resource is inferred, a couple of the deposits are too small and low grade to be worth anything and the bulk of the resource is deep and sulphide. There is no significant oxide open pit resource. If it was as good as you say Randgold would be involved already. It could be good but needs a lot of drilling done to increase the resource and get it to indicated status. Mongbwalu, which was dropped by AGA has a resource almost double Zani, has infrastructure in place and has been on the market for years. No one is interested. A project is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. And nobody wants to put money into DRC. Check Banro's marker cap vs their resources for a realistic indication.

You also have to think why does a huge copper company like Hailiang want to take out ASA if not for the copper/ cobalt assets in DRC? Have they found something from all the drilling that they have not publicised to its partner ASA, in breach of whatever partner agreement they have? Still after all the placeholder RNS' no update from Hailiang after all this time

They will no doubt asset strip ASA making a profit and keep the copper/ cobalt assets and potentially Zani, selling half to one of the gold majors and then being a silent partner...

Consider this.

The average price per ounce gold paid in the ground in Africa between 1990 and 2013 was $64.

Zani Kodo 2.97m ounces, 80% owned, but with the prospect of much more at depth and when extended out. Adjacent to Randgold's Kibali mine (22m ounces) and Anglo Golds Mongwalu 5m ounce prospect.

I make that as $152m as it stands without more drilling. But it could be worth more than that to Randgold who already have a producing mine in the area.

Something to think about.

There aren't many companys around these days with the kind of assets this one has at this price.

Zani Kodo is worth multiples of the current share price on its own.

Give it time. The Board should be getting out all the good news they can now to counter the negatives in the Offer RNS & prove how undervalued we are. They should also be negotiating for a higher price & with their Brokers seeking other bidders to start an auction.I suspect they will also want to see what support they have to block the offer as 90% is a tall order.Of course currently we don't know what ASA are recommending to shareholders, but I very much doubt they will tell us to accept 2.1p given the hidden value and probably the price some Directors need to come out in profit.Interesting times. I'm supporting our Board to act firmly in our interests.Good luck.

You will get your cash, whatever the amount is, if the takeover goes through.

You will probably just have to fill in a form of acceptance, either electronically or physically.

The first offer is never usually the last imho as it has not been declared as final!

Oh right. But even if I didn't want to, I dunno how you would accept their offer lolAnd what does it mean if you hold? They aren't going to de-list when they buy ASA are they?

The advice from ASA is to hold for now. Which is the normal advice at this stage, as anything can happen in the next few weeks.

I see Hailiang Group were mopping up the shares in the market yesterday.

Sorry guys, I don't really know much about takeovers. Will my shares just get automatically sold? Do I have to do something to accept this 2.10p offer? Can I keep my shares?

Well congrats, stirrup, you predicted well, and presumably took your own advice and will make an enviable profit. But are you implying that in future we should always follow you? Otherwise what's to be gained by telling us that 'I told you this would happen' ?

. . .

Gold, Nickel, Tin, Copper and the other raw materials that we are now mining will shoot up in value as the dollar declines and countries compete for the output. China is about to go trawling around the world looking for undervalued companies with major profit potential./..i.e Just like Mwana.

Let's hope the directors are planning on holding onto the majority holdings for their retirement pots, or else we small fry may get sold down the river after so many years of waiting.

Asmo, re: 2573... Given how long I've been here, that is a given...

These were hoped to be in my pension pot, outside the greedy banksters control, but if the Bankers don't get you then predatory managers do...

And they wonder why the rich get richer, and the rest get shafted...

Vast Resources confirms higher grades of silver, copper, lead, zinc at Romanian tailings dam

Vast Resources started drilling in the area in November 2016 and made 33 surface drill holes, covering 630 metres, the company said in a press release. This company needs a new PR company, we have huge land/exploration holdings (unless they've been sold off and/or licences expired), we have a Nickel mine in operation, two more nearby, with enough to keep us in Nickel for at least another five to ten years, a Smelter, A Gold Mining operation, and licences in four or is it five countries? What is management doing at senior level, are they just waiting for the price to fall to next to nothing so that they can take it private for a pepper-corn (make it wholly Chinese?)

wstirrup

So, as I wrote a few days ago, somebody is going to try to take us private... the Banksters HATE letting anyone into their private little club and stopping Joe Public from getting any wealth is priority one...

JUST as the price of PMs is about to get a kick in the pants, they want to keep all the gravy for themselves, while we put up all the risk capital over the last ten plus years...

Been going back through the old MWA thread looking for clues, and spotted these, which just shows, how long I've been here...

A news item on BBC Radio 4 this am, suggested one of Zim's religious leaders has called for an all out demonstration on the streets to attempt to overthrow Mugabe.

The Cleric, said he would be willing to pay with his life if necessary.

I wonder how many of his parishioners have the same strength of spirit. They will need it. Mugabe seems very reluctant to go quietly...

From the BBC

Mugabe 'to leave within a year'
Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe is unlikely to contest presidential elections due next year, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has said.
He told the BBC that people within Mr Mugabe's Zanu-PF party were "anxious to get another candidate".
