18/6/2024 16:14 | The problem that Matt Bull has is that nobody really believes he is going to develop a mine having been shafted on the Mahenge project. There are no excuses in this jurisdiction regarding infrastructure so it will be interesting to see whether he puts our money where his mouth is … or just lives up to his surname! | cocopah

30/5/2024 14:14 | Interesting to see that the #ACP Twitter Account is in full swing ramping the share on the back of the latest price for silver. Not sure if I’m the only one who is not convinced they have a plan to actually undertake any mining! On a different topic, does anybody have a view on the value of Mahenge if it is sold as an undeveloped asset with its current mining license? | cocopah
23/5/2024 14:19 | US hikes tariffs to further isolate China from its EV supply chain ambitions The US on Tuesday imposed tariff increases on electric vehicle and lithium ion battery imports from China and also introduced new duties on natural graphite, permanent magnets and certain other critical minerals imports. Why has natural graphite been added to the list of tariffs? Beginning in 2026 the US will apply a tariff of 25% on Chinese natural graphite imports, a move aimed at reining in China’s near-monopoly in the graphite used for making batteries for electric vehicles and shows that it intends to diversify anode supplies away from China. US graphite policy has been under pressure from domestic producers who want protection from lower cost Chinese supply, and downstream manufacturers who rely on access to Chinese graphite production. However, Benchmark analysis shows that the current ex-China flake graphite supply is insufficient to meet the global demand for graphite. China mined 76% of the global natural graphite in 2023, according to the Natural Graphite Forecast. China also has a monopoly on converting flake graphite flake graphite into the spherical graphite for battery anodes and is forecast to produce 98% of uncoated spherical graphite (USPG) in 2024 according to Benchmark’s Natural Graphite Forecast.
