A minor point, but did you increase your holding by 40 percent in number of shares or in proportion of the company? Millions of new shares were issued to the Chairman during those three months.

IIRC it's less than a year until the options mine roars back into production.

I know that not everyone has been happy with the share price performance in the last 12 months, but for me it’s been a blessing, knowing that there was no other reason than market sentiment driving this down, the news flow, in regards to content of RNS,s I think has been fantastic, most of which has gone unnoticed by the MM s, In three months I’ve managed to increase my holding by 40 percent and reduce my average from 5 to 4.2, so I for one am very happy, dollar cost averaging at it best. Thought this was cheap at 5p but since then there has been significant positive news, all of which I consider to be value adding news, lucky enough to have funds come available at just the right time, who says you don’t need a bit of that sometimes! Will keep adding till Venus IPO where I will divert some funds into that, then repeat for Pallas Resources, then no doubt WTR in a few years time. All the time enjoy the income from dividends that will allow this. Plan you must! And as far as I’m concerned, it hopefully is going to mine.

I am calm - it is a standard 50 % correction in a bull run. It happens very often.

Definitely appears to be a more positive swing on this board which is good to see. I do like idea of giving higher dividend based on time held not come across that before.

On the subject of loyal shareholders I saw on Twitter this week one company (L'Oréal I think) that has a scheme so those who have held shares for more than 2 years get an extra 10% on their divi. It's not relevant to AAU, but I thought was interesting

There are many complaints here about investor relations or "market management". While the company could invest more of its resources into this area, I am not complaining, for two reasons. First, I think that it is focused on long-term return to shareholders. If the shares are underpriced in the short term, then so be it: they offer an opportunity for investors sharing the company's long-term view to top up their holding. Second, Ariana's neglect to talk up the shares reassures me that it isn't about to embark on a programme of equity fund-raising and consequent share dilution.

Of course, I could be wrong on either count and, if proved to be so, will join the complainers.

There aren't loyal shareholders. There are shareholders who've made an appraisal and decided to invest and hold; there are lazy shareholders who might sell if they were paying attention but stay aboard out of inertia. Loyal implies some sort of romantic attachment. You might as well say stupid. I fall somewhere between the three camps.

Appreciate that Nov31. I think that sentiment goes for us all but amazingly a lot of us are still here after all that time so hopefully one day it will reward us all.
You are a big holder like bigglesbingham and both of you deserve a big win for your patience and fortitude.

Soul, no need to apologise. I've been here 15 years and the share both infuriates me and pleases me in equal measure.

fingers, legs and everything i can cross are crossed charles.

assuming no disasters on the road ahead, i see aau as a stonking long term winner, generating oodles of cash and paying regular dividends at an even higher level than the special divi. of course if it works out like that it means the share price will be at a much higher level too. off to find more things i can cross.

I believe in the future of AAU and the vision of our CEO. Whilst I have not been happy with the declining share price this didn't deter me or dampen my belief that the company would one day make a big difference to my finances. So I bought at lower prices all the way down as much as I could afford despite the negativity of some of the regular posters. I believe we are on the cusp of a re-rating now and hope that this year will see a change of sentiment. Good luck!

Great, the next divi will now cover about 12% of what weve lost in the last 18 months :).I'm only messing, I'm invested here, I fully believe we will see the return in the long term and we won't get there without weeks like this. Fair to say though this week is the exception when you look at the last 18 months. Onwards!
