hi Dave, good to "see" you.

Agreed, nuts. I liked ARE pre-COVID, but with no fans allowed anywhere near events in the near term IMO, this is too high. I will watch, but avoid! DYOR

Recent TR1 notifications show Canaccord Genuity Group reduced their holding from 8% to 4%, and Lombard Odier Asset Management position dropped from 25.1% to 23.6%

But a new entrant, Tasheel Holding Group has acquired a 24.2 % stake in ARE (During the recent share placing I think)

We are yet to see how busy they've been. Cash burn for ARE is immense.

Arena have been busy despite the cancellaton of the olympics as they have been engaged in the deployment of temporary hospital facilities in the UK.

Events industry is in upheaval and will not start recovering until well into 2021 by all industry discussions & indications.

EDIT: I probably should have said 'active' instead of 'busy' as busy might imply revenue generation though I doubt they are building the temp facilities for free.

If it wasn't for covid, ARE would already be private. The plans were pulled because of covid. I wonder why they decided to do that. Any hint of a recovery and I expect that will be back on the table.

Bought in this morning, good recovery play with bid potential.

True.

Incredible how much interest stocks can get on the back of shameless pump and dump operators on twitter. Had they not seen this stock the volumes would be less than 100k a day

They actually had a business in February.

The market is a forward indicator, with lockdowns starting to unwind why not buy into the bombed out leisure sector, they have just raised £9.5m in cash at 10p to add to the mix.

The shares were trading at 25p in February and can now be bought around 7.5p

The idea with the Stock Market is to buy low sell high.

In the last update when the placing was announced, the company we're working on the assumption that Wimbledon, The Open Golf and other summer events would be going ahead. They've all been cancelled. Any that do go ahead will be behind closed doors, and therefore unlikely to need Arena services I suspect.

Mostly event seating, facilities for hire, temporary structures etc. Unlikely many events will be going ahead in my opinion

I never even knew Arena was still trading. I remember holding these some 10-15 years ago.

If they still own race tracks then yes how can they make money ?

Yes indeed. How anyone can see this as a good punt in this current environment is beyond me.

Can be handy if you have a losing position and a dead position and you get a chance to sell it and get a higher price.

A lot of people out there that still wake up every day thinking they have to make money even after a massive bubble for last 2 months...greed is good...for them

Those groups really should be closed down. Simply draw people in, and leave them holding the baby. Shame there's so many gullible folk around

Interesting volume here. Strange, as I imagine business has fallen off a cliff and is unlikely to return to anywhere near previous levels for quite some time given social distancing
