24/1/2014 20:50 | Not that I know of. There was this mysterious statement: mikeja 22 Jan'14 - 13:29 - 161 of 168 0 0 SKYSHIP,Have joined you, have spoken to the co and there is no fundamental reason for fall.I know why it happened-it should be sorted shortly. Both ARBB and STB are on high a PER so, what with sell offs in US etc. due to emerging market doubts, that may well account for it. | pvb
24/1/2014 20:47 | The share price has dropped 24% in the last 3 weeks has something changed that I am not aware of? | trav5
24/1/2014 17:33 | Bit of a slaughter-fest today! down 7.7% | pvb
22/1/2014 16:16 | Seems to be a bit of a shake out today on some hitherto high flyers. (Well, mine!) | pvb

22/1/2014 14:09 | You could perhaps have a word with James Cobb at ARBB,Skyship | mikeja
22/1/2014 13:53 | mike - interesting and encouraging. Of course, it only needs Harry Angest to scoop up a few again and we would be back to £14 toute de suite... | skyship
22/1/2014 13:29 | SKYSHIP,Have joined you, have spoken to the co and there is no fundamental reason for fall.I know why it happened-it should be sorted shortly. | mikeja
22/1/2014 13:22 | Actually, that £19/share is just the holding in Secure Trust Bank. Add in the c£4.50 Net Assets in Ansbacher Bank; and the discount is c50%! Anyone got a precise handle on those stats? | skyship
22/1/2014 13:09 | Well, i sold out into the run up to the New Year - but am now back in again. I don't see anything has changed and which might account for this fall; other than a TA interpretation of a double top; and the likelihood of the 61.8% FIB Retracement - now achieved. With the NAV of c£19.00; we are now back at a 39% discount. | skyship
20/12/2013 19:24 | Henry Angest is buying again! | pvb
18/12/2013 15:08 | Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC Sale of 580,000 of Secure Trust Bank PLC shares Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC ("Arbuthnot" or the "Group") today announces that it has sold 580,000 ordinary shares in Secure Trust Bank ("STB") to institutional investors, hence increasing the free float of its subsidiary and reducing its holding in STB from 70.7% to 67%. The Group will receive cash consideration of approximately GBP14.4 million net of costs from the placing of the shares to investors. This transaction is not expected to be accounted for as part of the profit before tax for the consolidated group accounts, but will directly increase the reserves and accordingly the regulatory capital resources of the Group. This will allow the Group to continue to invest in future growth opportunities that exist for both of its banks. The Group has also agreed not to sell further shares in STB until 13 June 2014 unless it has received prior approval from Cannacord Genuity Limited. | davebowler
18/12/2013 13:19 | Happily bought back in at 1265 & 1281 having sold into the IC-inspired spike. A bear squeeze is absolutely not the reason for the better tone. No-one shorts an illiquid stock. Profit-taking (like mine) was inevitable; now normal business restored; the Chairman scoops out some of the loose stock....and away we go again! (I hope...) | skyship
18/12/2013 12:30 | Thanks for the information Huttonr. They seem to have been all round the houses over the last few years - starting as Secure Trust Bank - into (and out of) brokerage, investment banking, private banking and asset _management, called off Swiss banking operation. Now benefitting again from a partially floated off STB! mikeja, don't forget Henry Angest owns 50% (actually more) of the shares. | pvb
18/12/2013 10:29 | Short squeeze? No stock around | mikeja
17/12/2013 09:01 | for pvb While many lenders will be ruing the withdrawal of cheap Funding-for-Lending financing of personal loans, such as mortgages, the move, and any further tightening, should play distinctly to the advantage of Arbuthnot Banking (ARBB) thanks to its very strong retail deposit base. As well as offering wealth management services, Arbuthnot has a 70.7 per cent stake in Secure Trust Bank (STB), which means it also has a retail deposit operation, and provides loans and car financing. The group has been picking up a lot of work as high street banks pull up the drawbridge on making loans and operating income in the first half up 67 per cent at £43.2m. | huttonr
16/12/2013 09:50 | The news provides a great opportunity to BUY back in again; having sold on the IC tip-inspired spike. Bought a few @ 1281p... | skyship
13/12/2013 21:41 | Might ask my broker to have a look at that on Monday. Still worth 18.75 per ARBB share and if they are going to liquidate the holding over time dividend stream might benefit. | mikeja
13/12/2013 21:36 | Looks like someone might have been trading on that info today about sale of STB shares at 25 pounds a share | mikeja
12/12/2013 16:27 | STB really on a tear,approaching 30 pounds,ARBB holding worth 22.50 a share | mikeja
