Why should the market react? The sale was known about, the completion date announced, and the special dividend stipulated. The confirmation was just a formality and hardly a surprise to anyone. Patience will, I'm sure, be rewarded.

Very disappointing market reaction on a great deal and the market soaring.

Caradog .
Well spotted and I see the RNS was issued after the close of business yesterday.
Must see some action in the share price on Monday, surely.

Some good relative strength of late, including today's weak market day.

Noted, tromso1. That is a good sign. Slater usually knows his onions (LAKE notwithstanding!)

They need to be split up not merged. Arbuthnot shareholders should receive Secure Trust shares. Bound to happen one day, but only when Henry is ready, I guess!

Also happy to have bought back in, though only a small allocation. EDL was my only concern about the ARBB/SBT duo, so now that's gone, these are looking even better value. Of course we're still waiting for the final, final completion; but it does look like 99.9% complete.

Is there any good reason as to why these two may not be joined together? Looks as though a re-marriage should take place IMO.

Good write up by Simon T. n the IC column on 23/03 rating the share as a buy.

Harry,
As far as I can see, an exercise of an option at £9.30 as a director buy of 5000 shares doesn't really tell you a lot, except he was happy to buy at 2/3 the current market price. I haven't looked up the full detail of the options granted, but it may be these had to be exercised before they expire. Also, it is peanuts compared with his remuneration package.

Saucepan.

I had exactly the same thoughts and invested today as Secure Trust Bank is going great guns when you compare it with a highly rated Challenger Bank like Metro which is hardly rolling in profit.

The Private Banking operation is in a good segment of the market and the share price has pulled back for no good reason. The imminent SpecIal Div is just a nice bonus.

Hello mikeja. You seem to be the only person here popping their head above the parapet after today's results.

This looks a great entry point to me and I have joined you: my interest piqued after a heads up from another source.

If only we knew what was going on in Henry's mind! Mind you, he usually makes some things pretty plain via his comments in the annual R&A. ;-)

On re-reading my comments I realise they look a bit shabby, and seem self centred. I think there was an element of tongue - in -cheek with my views!
They bottom line as we know is what the results will be like and forecast for future earnings.
