Posted at 22/2/2008 16:44 by wooly62 Did you notice the Nocatch group which was established to farm organic cod went into adminsitration on wednesday with debts of £40M? Apparently they invested heavily in the infrastructure but underestimated how long it would take to breed mature fish. I suspect we have a similar situation here, except that it's penetrating the retailers at a price that makes sufficeint return is the problem. Too early to tell, but the fact the anouncement hasn't yet been made suggests they're in talks with someone (better than the immediate appointment of an Administrator that oftens RNS's like the most recent one). On the positive side, there were/are supposed to be a number of businesesses interested in acquiring Nocatch, so something may be salvaged here, but I wouldn't bet on it myself! |
Posted at 29/1/2008 11:10 by pickymicky I had a trout fish fillet from M&S last night.Very tasty indeed. Don't know if AQA provided it though. |

However, it might be worth bearing this company in mind as global demand for all commodities, including fish, looks set to keep rising in the medium to long term. So, in the meantime, perhaps a little gustatory Barramundi research via your local Waitrose, Morrison's or Sainsbury's might be in order." |
