Level 2 ticked up this morning at 11.20 with both EVO and WINS moving up in tandem.

EVO has been aggresively on the bid since takeover talks were announced and appear happy to take on plenty of stock.

Bodes well.

In such a bidding contest, presumably potential assets would form some sort of ceiling. What might that be in this case? tia

Also melinvest from HotCopper has provided a good example of what a share price can achieve when there is two or more parties interested.

"Look at CSM who started off with an offer around the amount you suggest of $2.28. With a couple of other bidders interested its gone from there to $2.82 then $3.25 then $3.30 then $3.60 then $4.10 and now $4.50, nearly twice the original offer."

I know this may not happen to AZA but it does show what can happen to a companys share price when there are multiple interested parties sniffing around.

bomfin,

You could be onto something there.

Apparantly AZA has been mentioned twice today in the AFR with Santos, NXS, AWE and other offshore parties being mentioned as interested parties.

Interesting times ahead.

perfectly feasable speculation one would think. Even with ael's producing assets, the current share price is still very undervalued, what the share price could be when valued on its potential would surely be at massive premuim to todays price.

Big scenario in my mind which could be fantasy island!

Longtom and BGM gas if developed together could make a nice project. That could bring Santos into the bidding. NXS just sold part of Crux today bringing in another Japanese company. Japanese companies could be interested in combined Longtom/BMG gas. Exxon could be interested in the potential big fields in the NXS/AZA block. I think the action involves Nexus with possiblz Nexus and Aza going to the same bidder(Santos?) Aza`s Nexus shares (16% of company) Just about makes this feasible. All speculativelz imho dyor.

results are due end of sept i think, last year they made a profit of 5.9million. Mssive buy here pushed the mm's up, it seems regardless of the rise in oz we will not rise as substantially if at all here unless people buy, like today! Its about time we got a mention in the press! that'll teach those cheeky mm's!

Seems like a strong position to be in. imho

yes indeed. things seem to be getting very hot but im staying in the kitchen! The fact that they have narrowed it down to 4 companies sounds rather promisng, maybe all are making what ael would consider to be a serious offer, and the company will now go to the most serious bidder.

A monster trade of 17.4m shares in AZA today at A$1.78 worth £13.2m. Thats 4.7% of the company in one trade.

Looks like things are about to get a lot hotter in the kitchen.

Yep, looking good again.

Some posters on the Ozzie forums are speculating that any serious bid might come in at A$2.20 and should a bidding war start the share price could be pushed towards A$2.50!

All speculation of course but if a bid did materialise at such prices it would do wonders for the share price of AEL.

Lets see,

At a AZA share price of A$2.20 AEL's 53.1% holding would be valued at £184m or £1.92 per share.

At a AZA share price of A$2.50 AEL's 53.1% holding would be valued at £209m or £2.18 per share.

Still some way to go I think.

streamlining the bidding process. I like the look of this. Looks like they`ve got lots of bids.
Good news because if it goes it will go to the highest bidder. imho

well yesterday we clearly had a new buyer of 175.000 shares which appeared as an after hours sell, it wasn't the normal 100.000 buyer the biggest trading day in the u.k for as long as i can see on my trading radar which is a month. So I do believe something major behind the scenes could be happening. All the best to you to and thanks for replying, intresting how when ever we have a buyer mm's are now moving this up indicating they do not want anyone to get cheap stock. I believe if we do get an offer it will before the recommencement of prodcution. As all the interest seems rather timely before the due motnh of october for reccomencement of full production.
