15/11/2008 16:52 | Why would anyone invest in a new transmission system when they aint sellin cars? The Chinese car industry is growing, and even without growth it needs it's own 6-speed transmissions, instead of them being made by Aisin in Japan, boated over to China, and then unloaded and transported to central China where cars are made due to lower labour costs than along the coast. As well as growth within China, the Chinese car industry is going to start exporting. That is going to increase the growth in the Chinese car industry further. To do that, they need their own intellectual property: SAIC cana't export VWs to Germany, but they can export Rovers, and Nanjing can export MGs. Soon, Loncin Antonov will be able to supply Chinese car makers with a Chinese gearbox. Is the equity to pay for wages? Yep, sure it is. They are selling 20p shares for 21p to institutional investors. You can buy them cheaper on the open market. Whether you take advantage is your choice. | crystalclear

Besides, how much cash does Anto have left?? Looks like not very much, they keep having to do placings every week, lol. 30/7/2008 11:14 | Yes, they mention it on the Honda website. Honda have patents where they use an electric motor as a starter, generator (to recharge the battery/capacitors) and for power boost (to enable engine downsizing). Gears are required for the different spin rates: starter and generator. Also, the electric motor needs to switch between running oil pumps, water pumps, air con, etc while the engine is off, and starting the engine when required. That's where their patents use Antonov technology, and they have a licence, but they seem in no rush to use it. They could surprise us, but it doesn't look promising. = Supercapacitors: Honda have test cars with small motors that can charge up the capacitors with the energy not required for quiet driving. The energy is then available to the motor when burst are required, eg short hills or overtaking. That enables engine downsizing as well as energy recovery, so efficiency is improved considerably. The idea is like KERS in next years Formula 1 racing, except F1 is not allowed to use the engine to recharge the energy storage system. In F1, only recovered braking energy can recharge the energy storage system, and not charge as you drive. | crystalclear

17/7/2008 13:44 | Antonov plc Message from the CEO As announced yesterday, we have achieved a significant milestone with the first successful demonstration of our six speed automatic prototype vehicles. We have posted some video footage of the car running on the test track under the member's section of the website. We have been asked what is different from the Rover test cars we had three years ago. The answer is that the Rover transmission was only a concept demonstrator - a one-off design to show that the transmission concept worked. The new prototype is a full production design with production supplier components, backed up by detailed manufacturing and assembly processes and a fully costed business plan. Discussions continue with our Chinese partner and customers and we will make further announcements in due course. John Moore, CEO - Antonov plc 16 July 2008 | crystalclear
08/7/2008 17:54 | More about the major car makers and the prospects for one of them to make a deal soon with Antonov PLC. www.antonovat.com Antonov plc Message from the CEO The Board are very pleased to welcome Willy Simon to the Company. As we continue to grow and develop the business his depth of experience in finance and banking will be a great asset. Those of you who follow the technical press will have seen recent articles relating to our low cost four speed transmission. Vehicle makers need to provide low cost simple products for emerging markets whilst maintaining high levels of efficiency and ease of use. The Antonov four speed is ideally suited to this application and it is great that Roumen Antonov's original vision for his self shifting mechanism may now become reality. 23/6/2008 19:27 | The AGM is coming this week. However, the current high level of interest from Chinese automotive manufacturers indicates that the plan will need to allow for growth in this capacity to above 200,000 units per annum, which is now being taken into account within the planned production facility. Low Cost Four Speed Automatic The renewed interest in the Antonov 4 speed automatic system is expected to result in engineering projects during 2008. These will be client confidential projects and as such will not be announced to shareholders, but we will report progress as far as constraints of confidentiality allow. Since actual transmission production in your own factories (and in significant numbers) is far more significant than client development, there is probably no requirement to RNS these client projects. Unfortunately the lack of news flow then means the share price suffers. Torotrak have a larger market cap and they have a 50% stake in a few lawnmower trannies, and a hope that Tata (not Torotrak themselves) might make some IVTs. In my opinion Antonov's production of transmissions will start to put Antonov among the other transmission makers (Getrag, Jatco, ZF, GM Powertrain, Aisin) over a period of time. The future is rosy but there is no trigger yet for people to realise it. The share price may even drop further. Time cost average buying seems to be the way forward. Purchase a few at reguar intervals thus ensuring that some are bought near the bottom, and then hold on for dividends when the Chinese start exporting cars. The Antonov is going to be the first real Chinese car transmission. Shipping trannies from Japan, unloading them at the port and sending them halfway across China to a car plant - clearly that is going to stop and the Chinese carmakers will take their home made (Antonov) Loncin transmissions. | crystalclear

01/5/2008 11:24 | Loncin is a leading Chinese manufacturer of high specification motor-cycles, small engines and a range of automotive components. Start of production is scheduled for mid 2010 with initial planned production capacity of 200,000 units per annum. However, the current high level of interest from Chinese automotive manufacturers indicates that the plan will need to allow for growth in this capacity to above 200,000 units per annum, which is now being taken into account within the planned production facility. Joint venture negotiations with Loncin are expected to be completed in the second half of 2008 to set up a manufacturing plant in Chong Qing, PRC. The production date and quantities are important. It is quite easy to just plan for 200,000 transmission per annum and say 'we'll expand production later if we achieve those figures'. For Loncin and Antonov to be already planning-in increased capacity, the Chinese car makers must have shown plenty of interest. 200,000 transmissions costing about 1000 Euros each. That's a lot of money that'll be flowing through the joint venture in a few years' time. Multiplying and dividing by 10 for a comparison, how would investors value the company if it were 2 million barrels of oil at 100 euros? | crystalclear
30/4/2008 16:21 | Antonov FY pretax loss widens to 3.96 mln pounds vs 3.16 mln; opg loss narrows LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Antonov Plc. reported wider full-year pretax loss of 3.96 million pounds from a restated pretax loss of 3.16 million pounds earlier which included the one-off finance income of 925,000 pounds. The vehicle technology company reported revenue of 771,000 pounds for the year to Dec. 31, 2007, from 11,000 pounds reported a year ago. Operating loss for the year narrowed to 3.935 million pounds from 4.08 million pounds. It said it continues to have the confidence of its funding partners. tf.TFN-Europe_newsde ssr/ajb | waldron
28/2/2008 09:30 | Antonov sees wider FY net loss at 4.9 mln stg; 2007 sales 0.8 mln stg vs 11,000 LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Antonov PLC said it expects the net loss for the year to end-December 2007 to widen to 4.9 mln stg, against a loss of 3.7 mln in 2006 which included the one time benefit of 650,000 stg financial income due to the first time application of IFRS. The company said its total revenues in 2007 amounted to 0.8 mln stg compared with 11,000 stg for the full year 2006. Revenues comprise licence fees, engineering service fees and receipts from sales of product. Operating loss for the year is estimated to be 4.2 mln stg against a loss of 4.1 mln last year, Antonov said. This reflects investments made in setting up the newly established consolidated operational facility in Warwick in the UK and the costs of closing the company's operations in France, it added. Its funding facility is in place to underpin commercial strategy, with a debt free balance sheet without any loans or other external borrowings. The company also said its restructuring is complete, and with payments being received reliably from Loncin and Emporio, the business now has a solid foundation for continued growth.
